The story is that the queen was very much fond of lord Ram and wanted to travel to ayodhya but the king being a devotee of krishna asked the queen to accompany him to Brij. The Queen was so adamant and refused to accompany him. The king then asked the queen to return to kingdom from Ayodhya only with lord ram in child form then only he will believe in lord ram. Queen took vow that either she will return with lord Rama in her lap or she will drown herself in the Sarayu river.
