Keeping in mind the IB philosophy, Stonehill boarding offers diverse activities ranging from service projects, outdoor education, sports, music and the arts. The dedicated boarding staff help students take control of their learning and develop skills that can be used in and out of the classroom.
Over the past years, the boarders explored the inquiry-based learning approach through a sustainable garden project.
They then explored the different types of manure they could use, the best way to irrigate the garden and the right time of the year to plant and harvest their produce.
With some help, they set up a drip irrigation system for the garden.
The organic garden successfully led to heaps of fresh green vegetables, like tomatoes, cucumbers and chillies that they proudly donated to the kitchen.
They are encouraged to explore nature and inquire about the different plant species, birds and insects.
