The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was a huge hit when it released in 2017, so it's no surprise that Nintendo has a sequel in the works. However, it looks like Breath of the Wild 2 could be arriving earlier than we thought.According to leaker Sabi (via wccftech), Breath of the Wild 2 is due for release in 2020.But, as Sabi points out, "Zelda release dates are historically delayed, internally or publicly".Check out the tweet below:I would tell you Botw2 is planned to release in 2020, but Zelda release dates are historically delayed, internally or publicly LOLNovember 12, 2019

Now is the time for CMOs to nurture relationships with the rest of the c-suite and trumpet revenue-generating results. After years of clamoring for more recognition, chief marketing officers finally have their seat at the table. The question is how they can take advantage of the opportunity and mitigate the outsized blame they receive when the company isn't hitting the numbers.I believe the heart of the problem is that CMOs lack visibility into their marketing activities and can do a better job of creating metrics that show how their activities are generating revenue for the company. To begin to change all of this, CMOs need to nurture their relationships with the rest of the c-suite, and in particular the CFO.Without clear data and metrics from marketing, the CFO’s assumption might be that growth is coming from elsewhere, severely discounting marketing's contributions when judgment time comes.
Social media started off this decade as an innocent tool to share ‘what’s on your mind’ and stay in touch with loved ones. But as the years have passed social media’s darker side has become so obvious that even the employees of the biggest platforms have begun protesting their policies (or lack thereof).A new study published by Freedom House — a Washington-based pro-democracy group — has also dealt a blow to social media as a whole as it finds it the main reason for declining internet freedom in the world. The research notes that freedom is under siege as some governments are weaponizing social networking platforms to manipulate elections, apply censorship, spread disinformation, and monitor its citizens. The report titled “Freedom on the Net 2019: The Crisis of Social Media” was published yesterday and included an analysis of 65 countries — including China, Russia, Kazakhstan, and Zimbabwe.Of those countries, researchers found that half showed an overall decline in their internet freedom score, while only 16 registered “improvements.” Freedom House concluded that global internet freedom has declined for the ninth consecutive year.
HBO would like a few lucky winners to have a free box. While cats might get excited about this, humans are more likely to say "huh?"The HBO Box is a giant black cardboard box with holes for airflow, a shelf inside and cutouts so your legs can stick out one end. It's real, and the promotion is aimed at US college students suffering from pesky roommates and a lack of privacy.HBO posted a video for the box on Tuesday that comes off like a Jony Ive/Apple design parody, complete with a soothing voiceover in a British accent. The promotion rules are somewhat strict.
TikTok will soon join the list of social networks integrated into your favorite apps.On Monday, November 4, TikTok announced TikTok for Developers, a software development kit (SDK) that allows third-party apps to add a TikTok shortcut for easy sharing to the popular network focused on short videos. The platform launches with seven apps already building a TikTok shortcut into the program, including mobile video editors like Adobe Premiere Rush, as well as Plotaverse, an app for turning still photos into GIF animations. The capability allows users to easily access more editing tools and options than what’s on TikTok alone.Along with Rush and Plotaverse, the list of apps building in a TikTok integration includes PicsArt, a popular photo- and video-editing app; Enlight Videoleap, a mobile video editor; fuse.it, an augmented reality video tool; medal.tv, an app for sharing gaming videos; and Momento GIF Maker, an app for automatically generating animations from your camera roll.“TikTok offers lots of creative filters and editing tools, and we want to continue giving our users the tools to create whatever they can imagine,” the company shared in a blog post.
After months of speculation, Google has pounced and moved to acquire Fitbit for a cool $2.1 billion signalling its intent to get serious about wearables.Wear OS has struggled to make any kind of discernible dent in the smartwatch market with Apple dominating the space along with Samsung offering a better all-round smartwatch experience.Actually, quite a lot that could be the saving grace for Google’s ambitions to finally make smartwatches and wearables work.Google decided to focus on software instead of building the hardware to house its smartwatch operating system, initially working with the likes of Samsung, LG and Motorola to showcase what the OS formerly known as Android Wear was capable of.Those hardware partners have in more recent years evolved to become more diverse with the likes of Fossil, Louis Vuitton and Mont Blanc leaning on Google to build their own smartwatches. It housed the best of what Fitbit had to offer and packaged it in a customizable body that could be as sporty or dressy as you wanted it to be.
Dropbox is rolling out its previously announced file transfer service to all users from today after a four-month beta period. The cloud-storage giant first unveiled Dropbox Transfer back in July, and it serves as an easy way for users to share files with people when collaboration isn’t important.Using Dropbox Transfer, the sender can access key stats, such as how often a link has been clicked on or how many times it has been downloaded. They can also choose to receive download alerts each time someone accesses the files and set passwords for security, as well as expire limits so that a file automatically disappears after a set period of time. It’s worth noting that some of this functionality already exists as part of Dropbox’s shared-links feature, which also offers expiry times and password-protection.But the use cases for Transfer are slightly different — shared links is aimed at situations where an end-user may require access to files that change frequently.
Cortana can now read your emails to you, book and reschedule meetings, and provide personalized daily rundowns to help you prepare for meetings. The work is a result of collaboration between Microsoft’s Cortana and Outlook teams and was leaked in a video a few days ago.Cortana’s been able to find and write emails or surface reminders in your inbox for years, but Cortana in Outlook utilizes Microsoft’s key point extraction and summarization AI to deliver a synopsis of emails that lets people do quick triage — flagging and saving longer emails for later review or sending quick responses.“Play my email” also notes changes to your schedule that appear in email text and alerts you to any scheduling conflicts — like double-booked meetings.Summaries can share context, like who else received the email and whether it was a follow-up or part of a thread, and when connected with Azure Active Directory, they can also factor company structure into the order of your email playlist, prioritizing emails from a manager, for instance. Each email rundown begins by telling you how long it will take, and the feature is trained on your personal data and relationships.
The launch of the Pixel 4 model also ushered in the arrival of Recorder, an app from Google that it made available exclusively on this handset. The app is notable for its auto-transcription feature, which automatically turns speech into text with a high level of accuracy without depending on the cloud. The same app will soon be available on older Pixel models. As we noted in our Pixel 4 review, the Recorder app is an excellent product.Anyone who often needs to record conversations — students who record lectures, for example — will find the automatic speech-to-text transcription very convenient, particularly due to its high accuracy and the ability to search through it.The Recorder app does all the work on the device itself rather than in the cloud.
APT’s 64-bit ELF data miner at work within at least 4 telcosSecurity firm Fireye says a “highly advanced” Chinese Advanced Persistent Threat dubbed APT41 is using its intrusions into telecommunications companies to to monitor SMS traffic for specific users and keywords using a previously unseen malware type – with high-ranking military and government officials the primary target. The servers were being used to route SMS messages or store them until the recipient comes online (so-called SMSC servers) FireEye said.FireEye said it has identified four affected telecommunications companies.“MESSAGETAP grants APT41, and by extension, China the ability to obtain highly sensitive data at scale for a wide range of priority targets with little chance of being detected”, FireEye said, with no mitigation possible on the end-user’s side. The report is the latest suggestion that Chinese APTs have gained deep access to global telecommunications providers: a June 25 report by Boston-based Cybereason detailed the systematic penetration of over 10 global telecommunications companies by a believed Chinese APT, which had extracted over 100GB of data from the primary telco assessed.
Billed as a cloud-native data platform for analytics, AI, and machine learning, Qubole offers solutions for customer engagement, digital transformation, data-driven products, digital marketing, modernization, and security intelligence. It claims fast time to value, multi-cloud support, 10x administrator productivity, a 1:200 operator-to-user ratio, and lower cloud costs. What Qubole actually does, based on my brief experience with the platform, is to integrate a number of open-source tools, and a few proprietary tools, to create a cloud-based, self-service big data experience for analysts and data scientists.Qubole takes you from ETL through exploratory data analysis and model building to deploying models at production scale.Along the way, it automates a number of cloud operations, such as provisioning and scaling resources, that can otherwise require significant amounts of administrator time.Whether that automation actually will allow a 10x increase in administrator productivity or a 1:200 operator-to-user ratio for any specific company or use case is not clear.
The U.S. Army is joining forces with the Smithsonian to train the next generation of ‘Monuments Men,’ the celebrated experts who saved artworks and historical treasures during World War II.The U.S. Army Civil Affairs and Psychological Operations Command (Airborne) and the Smithsonian Cultural Rescue Initiative recently signed an agreement “to train and support soldiers whose mission is to ensure cultural property is not destroyed or damaged during armed conflict.”“The training continues the legacy of the World War II Monuments Men and Women, a group of curators, architects and other cultural heritage specialists who served in the Army Civil Affairs Division and were tasked to save many of Europe’s cultural treasures,” the Army explained in a statement.ANCIENT TREASURES LOOTED FROM SYRIA AND IRAQ ARE BEING SOLD ON FACEBOOK, EXPERTS WARNThe destruction of historical treasures has been thrust into the spotlight in recent years as Islamic State militants have wrought devastation across swaths of Iraq and Syria. In the past, ISIS has launched a series of wanton attacks on sites of historic and religious importance such as the ancient city of Palmyra.

A ghostly countenance is glaring back at us through 704 million light-years of interstellar space, in what’s actually a galactic collision of epic proportions. With galaxies for eyes and rings of gas and dust for its face, the Arp-Madore system presents a truly haunting visage. The NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope captured this striking image back in June, but the fine folks at Hubble released it this week in honour of Halloween and all things scary. This system is scientifically interesting, aside from its ability to induce pareidolia – when we see faces in inanimate objects. These two galaxies are heading straight towards each other in a slow-motion intergalactic head-on collision, rather than a glancing blow. The Arp-Madore system is also cool because the two galaxies are of roughly equal size.
Venture investors, entrepreneurs, and Wall Street have all learned to pile on, leading to a shared consensus that cloud investing is “a sure thing.” Nothing is more destructive to investors over the long term than a sure thing, so I began to wonder, “what could cause the wonderful economics of cloud investing to unravel?”My conclusion is that while the cloud is obviously here to stay, the next five years in cloud investing will neither be the same nor as easy as the last 10.My reason for writing this post is not to be a party pooper, but to provide a context for startups to navigate this potentially harsher environment. This post identifies three different startup strategies, all of which can work even in the more competitive cloud economy that I envisage.Big picture, the summary points are as follows:First, cloud company valuations are at all-time highs which cannot be justified by improved company operating performance but can explained by 20 years of consistent 30% growth in the cloud software market.
Stranger Things may be the most-watched show on Netflix -- at least, as far as we know from the small selection of cherrypicked stats the streaming giants has strategically released.Stranger Things was the latest Netflix hit prodding the streaming giant to keep up its streak this year of bragging about how many people watch its shows. In addition to stats for the retro sci-fi phenomenon, Netflix dropped viewership numbers for Money Heist, Tall Girl, Secret Obsession, Unbelievable and Otherhood Wednesday. They came in Netflix's latest earnings release, which painted the picture of a streaming giant having a tougher time keeping its rate of subscriber growth aloft in the US just as it faces some of its most intense competition yet.But even with the headwinds, Netflix remained committed to spilling viewership figures. But lately Netflix has loosened up to help recruit talent and drive buzz.
