The San Francisco-based company has yet to put it into production, and now one Chinese company is taking advantage of the delay. The vehicle s gyroscopic stability technology keeps it from tipping over, and an early video even showed a dramatization of it recovering after being struck by a car.Elektrek reports that after receiving funding from Mark Pincus, co-founder and CEO at Zynga, and Larry Page, co-founder of Google and CEO of Alphabet, Lit Motors is looking for more money. This is apparently not limited to four-wheel transport, as Beijing-based Lingyun Intelligent Technology is developing its own gyroscopically balanced two-wheeler.The video below shows the single seater in question as well as a two seater, which were displayed at the recent Beijing Auto Show:Lingyun reported a USD 8-digit Series A funding round from Beijing-based angel investment fund Geek Bang, China Broadband Capital, Sequoia Capital China, ZhenFund and Beijing-based private equity fund Hillhouse Capital Management.Lit Motors predicts a 150-mile range on a 10kWh battery pack with a top speed of 100 mph, while Lingyun s concept should get 62 miles on a 3kWh pack and hit 62 mph.

Doom was made by six dudes in six months. That s Mike Wilson, co-founder of Devolver Digital, a game publisher that s made a name for itself by finding the smallest and weirdest, yet most promising indie games out there. The best and worst thing about independent games seems to be that the teams have often never worked together before, much less shipped a game on their own.Nothing is stopping people from buying the new Call of Duty and a funky, $5 retro platformer like Downwell. The AAA guys need to play it safe, because they have so much money on the line.I d rather these guys were millionaires and going around saying these are the guys that didn t fuck me.'

In a world where customer support is increasingly the difference between buy or no buy, stay or no stay, just about everyone loves to market themselves as customer centric/driven/motivated/leading/delightors/dinosaurs/satisfyers/ninjas/hillbillies .A phrase I regularly hear is we love to delight the customer .From a corporate point of view, it s usually sales based – we love to delight the customer we make people happy enough that they keep buying from us .This counteracts the selfless act of delighting another human being – or, to remove the buzzword – unselfishly making another human happy for the sake of happiness.Amazon, Apple, and John Lewis UK are all examples of companies famed and loved for their customer service, a by product of which is customers come back again and again, or in the SaaS world… keep on subscribing.I wanted to share it quickly, because credit where it s due and all that.

Sources reportedly familiar with the matter tell Fudzilla that AMD s top-end server chip, codenamed Naples, will sport a 32-core / 64-thread configuration with a mind-numbing amount of cache on tap.It ll be built on a 14-nanometer FinFET manufacturing process by GlobalFoundries with support for the x86 instruction set. There s also said to be eight independent memory channels and 128 PCIe gen 3 lanes with support for up to 32 SATA or NVMe drives.Naples will also reportedly support 16x10GbE via an integrated controller that ll likely be in the chipset.AMD CEO Lisa Su previously told the publication that the desktop version will arrive first, followed by server, notebook and embedded solutions.Fudzilla says the server chips will be spread out over a staggered release that could begin as early as late 2016.

We figured out, in France, as well as in the United States, that the students from top colleges come from a privileged social background. If we focus on the American management style, the idea is to give kids from various backgrounds a chance, to allow them to hope and have a shot at a job, even to give them the tools to create their own company while earning a salary – a salary that can go up to $140,000 to $150,000 a year in Silicon Valley.VB: Why do you do this?We managed to give them a chance to study. We say what each of us do in life, we include a little bio, but that s only for the concept.VB: How do students get into 42?Niel: We don t ask anything when you want to join: We only ask for a name, a last name, and a birthdate. We forget everything they might have done in their life. This entails working at the school for 450 hours in a month, 15 hours a day, every day for 30 days.

Google today released the fourth preview of Android N, the next — and as yet unnamed — version of its mobile operating system.Instead, the focus is on the various new APIs that developers will be able to access to make use of all the new features in Android N. These APIs and the Android N SDK are now final and the company promises they won t change before Android N rolls out to consumers later this summer.Indeed, even the earliest versions of N were already quite stable. The fact that Google allowed anybody with a modern Nexus device to test it without having to go through a cumbersome install procedure probably also helped to find and squash the bugs in the last three previews. If you re an Android developer, now is the time to test new features like multi-window support and direct-reply notifications on Android N. As Google notes, the recently improved Google Play beta testing features also now make it easier for developers to get early feedback from users — including those on the developer preview. We are still trying to see if there are any major new consumer-facing features in this preview and will update this post if we do, but for now, it s probably safe to assume that the Android team mostly focused on bug fixes with this release.

And deep learning is certainly an advanced technology—it can identify objects and faces in photos, recognize spoken words, translate from one language to another, and even beat the top humans at the ancient game of Go.The elements are far simpler than neurons, and the number of elements and their interconnections is several orders of magnitude smaller than the number of neurons and synapses in the brain.Data representation: each data point is typically represented as a vector of pre-determined variables e.g., the position of a piece on the Go board .Hypothesis space: the space of possible functions the learning algorithm can consider. The Space of PossibilitiesEvolution is often cited as an example of the unbridled power of learning to produce remarkable results, but it is essential to understand the distinction between the evolutionary process of natural selection and its simulation in a computer program. Most important, the process is narrowly circumscribed, providing the machine with a very limited degree of autonomy; unlike people, AI does not beget autonomyMachine learning is far from being a genie that is ready to spring from a bottle and run amok.

However, a comment from a Microsoft executive has prompted speculation that developers could choose to make games exclusively for its super-powered hardware revision, the Xbox One Scorpio. In an interview with journalist Geoff Keighley on YouTube's Live E3 2016 coverage, Microsoft's general manager of game publishing, Shannon Loftis was asked whether games could launch exclusively for the Scorpio platform. In a pre-E3 2016 interview, Sony Interactive Entertainment president and global chief executive Andrew House confirmed the existence of a PS4 Neo console while also announcing its absence from the show .Heavily rumoured prior to its official announcement, the Xbox One Scorpio represents Microsoft's attempts to bring 4K gaming and high-fidelity virtual reality to the gaming masses via iterative hardware upgrades. The company also revealed plans to build a closer relationship with PC gaming through Windows 10, detailing its cross-play focus and Xbox Play Anywhere - a campaign that makes certain Xbox One games also available on PC for no extra fee, with game saves carrying over. For the latest E3 2016 news head to IBTimes UK's hub page

And those sites probably won t go away. The site started in the early aughts as a gleefully insider-y gossip rag for New York media types and became a pioneer of online snark. But founder Nick Denton clearly had greater ambitions; he iterated on Gawker s roots to create a new style of online journalism that prided itself on publishing what everyone knew but no one else would say, in a voice everyone would emulate. The point of the piece, rather, was to call out the hypocrisy of other venture capitalists, who supposedly prize non-conformity but would rather keep talk of sexual difference hush-hush.He just wanted to buy a muzzle.Neither propriety, nor idealism, nor barrel-sized ink purchases protect us from disgruntled oligarchs.

These statistics are partly what inspired me to speak with Christopher Grewe, the CEO and founder of American Prison Data Systems, or APDS.The concept is simple: Seed inmates with feature-limited Galaxy Tab S2s.The experience is enjoyable for the inmates, but much more shut down. Then we had to look at Android versus iOS and whatever else might be out there, and very quickly decided that Android and Google is the way of the future.Nobody likes installing cable, and prisons really hate it.Grewe: There s a well-known principle in psychology called the gifting effect.

I can barely believe I wrote that headline myself. But it s true. And an avalanche of venture capital is pouring into companies offering to solve it.Today, DocPlanner of Poland announced it has raised $20 million in venture capital and has acquired Doctoralia.com, a Spain-based competitor.DocPlanner, which operates in 25 countries, said it plans to use the money to expand into new markets and continue developing its booking platform. The fundraising brings DocPlanner s total to $34 million, and it includes investors such as Target Global, ENERN Investments, EBRD, Point Nine Capital, Piton Capital, and RTAventures. We have the ambition to become the clear number one global online platform for healthcare, said Mariusz Gralewski, founder and CEO of DocPlanner, in a statement. In the U.S., ZocDoc of New York raised $130 million last year, giving it a valuation of $1.8 billion. And in France, Doctolib, raised $20.5 million to help it expand into six new European countries in 2015.So, the battle for the hearts and minds and wallets of patients and doctors is on.

American Airlines has decided it s no-go for Gogo when it comes to internet services for its new fleet of planes. After deliberating for at least the last four months which Wi-Fi provider to use for in-flight connectivity for its new 100-strong fleet of aircraft, the carrier has gone for rival service ViaSat.The carrier will include ViaSat s internet technology in 100 new Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, which are expected to take to the skies in September 2017.American also confirmed it ll be using the company s new 2Ku satellite service on 134 of its existing Airbus planes to offer passengers faster internet. The deal appears to have come out of a move by American back in February to take Gogo to court in a bid to remove itself from a contract with Gogo.In the same month, it decided to drop its proposed court action, a decision that has apparently led to the current outcome with both ViaSat and Gogo providing internet services for its planes.

Researchers at the U.S. Navy have created a high-tech, in-helmet display for divers in the service that looks like something out of Iron Man — perhaps one of Stark s early prototypes.By building this HUD directly inside the dive helmet instead of attaching a display on the outside, it can provide a capability similar to something from an Iron Man movie, said Dennis Gallagher, leader of the research team, in a Navy press release look, it s just the go-to visual metaphor these days, okay?Information could be passed to DAVD Divers Augmented Video Display from surface sources, like a ship overhead sending birds-eye imagery well, water birds or, in the future, cameras or miniature sonar built into the helmet itself.Divers frequently have to do their work in low visibility conditions like nighttime or silty water, so alternative vision modes are a highly practical addition. There are other HUDs, such as those in fighter jets, but the challenge presented by a wireless, underwater version completely contained in a pressurized suit is a unique one.It s just a prototype now, but the team, located at the Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City Division, hopes to make it available for first responders and eventually commercial divers as well.

Uber Technologies Inc. s Chinese unit wants to overtake local market leader Didi Chuxing Technology Co. in China s private-car ride-sharing sector next year, a senior executive said Friday. While Didi remains the market leader, UberChina has been gaining ground rapidly, said Liu Zhen, the company s senior vice president of strategy, at the Converge technology conference hosted by The Wall Street Journal and f.ounders in Hong Kong.Still, Uber faces an uphill battle in China against Didi, which dominates China s taxi-hailing market and has a larger share than UberChina in the private-car-hailing segment.Ms. Liu said that UberChina could build a profitable business soon as it has been cutting costs and spending less on incentives for drivers.Discount wars in China s mobile on-demand services sector have already resulted in some high-profile mergers.Asked whether UberChina would ever consider a merger with Didi, Ms. Liu didn t provide an answer but instead talked about UberChina s growth and improvements in the efficiency of its operations.

Most young folk adjusting to single life away from their parents have probably got used to bathrooms without windows in them by now, as that's the first space-saving measure introduced by landlords rejigging their stock for maximum yield.Yes, regional people, it's time to laugh at how Londoners live! They may have the best buses, but they have to spend all of their money, and inevitably half of their parents' money when they go sobbing home at Christmas to get their debts paid off by daddy, on living in bleak rooms that people in the North and Wales would probably keep as a place to put boxes, bikes, camping equipment and broken TVs they can't be bothered to dump. This particular windowless flat is currently up for rent in Brixton, where £1,625 per month gets you two bedrooms, a kitchen diner, a separate bathroom, but... no windows.Twitter user Daniel Ruiz Tizon regularly trawls the estate agent sites for the very worst converted rooms and corridors, revealing such horrors as mezzanine beds not a good look if you're over 13 , converted corridors being rented out for £910 a month as if they're entire homes, and sofa beds in kitchens, all popping up as landlords convert former cupboards, attics and immersion tank spaces into homes they can charge a grand a month to put a social media intern in.Not a nice place to live unless your dad's happy to pick up three quarters of the tab each month or you're OK with being able to control the cooker while sitting up in bed and have a fridge as a bedside table.
