My Little Pony has a curiously broad set of fans, from little girls to adult male “bronies” and, err, Nazis. But since the cartoon series Friendship Is Magic ended in 2019, there’s been no new adventures of the Mane Six gang for fans to enjoy. Luckily for them, an AI system called This Pony Does Not Exist is helping fill the void, by spewing out an endless stream of new pony characters. The site was created by a developer known as Arfa, the same mind behind This Fursona Does Not Exist. Arfa built the system by training a generative adversarial network (GAN) on around 104,000 pictures from Derpibooru, the world’s… This story continues at The Next Web

Gravity can be a real downer when you are trying to grow organs. That’s why experiments in space are so valuable. They have revealed a new perspective into biological sciences, including insights into making human tissues. Gravity influences cellular behavior by impacting how protein and genes interact inside the cells, creating tissue that is polarized, a fundamental step for natural organ development. Unfortunately, gravity is against us when we try to reproduce complex three dimensional tissues in the lab for medical transplantation. This is difficult because of the intrinsic limitations of bio-reactors used on Earth. I am a stem cell… This story continues at The Next Web

Immutability is a feature of functional programming languages that makes programs easier to write, test, and maintain. However, immutability is not supported by many imperative programming languages. Until recently, C# did not support immutability out-of-the-box. That changes with the introduction of records in C# 9, which is available for preview in .NET 5. However, we can implement immutability in earlier versions of C# by using the System.Collections.Immutable namespace, which is available as a NuGet package.  [ Also on InfoWorld: What’s new in Microsoft .NET 5? ] An immutable object is defined as an object that cannot be changed after it has been created. For many use cases, such as Data Transfer Objects, immutability is a desirable feature. This article discusses why we might want to take advantage of immutability and how we can implement immutability in C#.To read this article in full, please click here
Foldables are a very new product category. So new, that the few companies who have brought foldable phones to market all have vastly different takes on what foldables should be.The new Motorola Razr is actually quite similar to the Razr flip phones from the mid-2000s.There’s a small display on the front, and the body flips open like a traditional flip phone to reveal a larger, taller screen. You don’t get a huge tablet-like display with this one, but it does seem the most natural compared to our current non-foldable phones today. The other two consumer-ready foldables are quite different from the Razr.
Disney's new streaming service is straining under the load as users rush to log in to the highly anticipated service on its US launch day.Frustrated users took to social media to complain about seeing "unable to connect" error screens instead of the Star Wars, Marvel, and Pixar movies they were hoping for."The consumer demand for Disney+ has exceeded our high expectations," Disney tweeted on Tuesday morning."We are working to quickly resolve the current user issue."The Mandalorian’s first episode is a no-brainer reason to pay for Disney+With Disney+, Disney is seeking to cut out the middleman and stream its content directly to customers.
There was something undeniably appealing about the design of the Nintendo Entertainment System, from its lunchbox-like shape to its lifting dust cover protecting the cartridge slot.If you need a little more of that sort of elegant simplicity in your life, 8BitDo has you covered with its latest N30 wireless mouse.Designed to mimic the look of the original NES controller, the 8BitDo N30 mouse features left and right mouse buttons almost identical to the “A” and “B” buttons of the controller, but its design doesn’t stop its homage there. On the side is a directional pad that can be used to go forward and upward, and quickly scroll up or down on a web page. There is a 3D touch panel included in between the top buttons as well, and its sleek design makes it easy to fit in a bag if you’re taking it on the go.It also uses a 2.4G receiver, so you can use it on devices that don’t support Bluetooth, and one AA battery should last between 100 and 120 hours.
Chevrolet finally has the all-electric crossover we’ve been hoping the automaker would make, but there’s some bad news about the new Menlo EV.General Motors has been promising a big push in electrification over the next four years, but that’s unfortunately going to include some disappointment for those drivers in the US.While Chevy does have an all-electric car at the moment, the Bolt EV, its overall size and hatchback body-style aren’t to everybody’s taste. The general consensus has long been that a crossover EV would be far more popular with American drivers, who can’t seem to get enough of the raised driving position and beefier aesthetic.Such a car has been slow to arrive, however, so you can imagine our excitement upon seeing the Chevrolet Menlo EV.Announced last week, it’s a more upright, chunky version of the automaker’s electric car, with a range apparently estimated at up to 410 kilometers on the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC).
Singles Day is quite often the peak point of the year in terms of sales for many brands. And the famous tablet/laptop makers CHUWI are no exception to this rule, because in the current 11.11 shopping festival on Aliexpress managed to smash some records from last year. For starters it took them just 2:26 minutes to surpass $100.000 GMV (Gross Merchandise Volume) and exceed last year GMV numbers in just 1:20:94.Fairly impressive, but they are absolutely not done yet, because the promos and sales are still ticking and people are going for more. And there are even some extra promos to help the sales so let’s take a look. The “Buy one get one free” promo is quite self-explanatory and is promising to give the customer some extra accessories for selected models, usually a free stylus pen or a handbag.
Reebok is unifying its brand under the iconic Vector logo and “drop-R” wordmark, dumping its red Delta logo from most products in the process. While that Vector logo may look similar to the original, this updated version is a thinner, more modern version.“Under a unified banner, all of our products and experiences will tell a single story that is clear and consistent,” said Karen Reuther, vp of creative direction.“The Vector was created as a logo version of the iconic Reebok side stripes and cross-check design that dates back more than 50 years. It’s compelling, dynamic and powerfully linked to some of our greatest cultural moments.”In 2014, Boston-based athletic brand Reebok unveiled its Delta symbol and “Pain Is Temporary, Reebok Is Forever” campaign to signal the three distinctive aspects of a person’s fitness transformation: physical, mental and social.
For years, the internet infrastructure company Cloudflare maintained that as a sort of internet utility—providing speed, reliability, and security services to sites around the world—it had no role in moderating content online. But more recently, Cloudflare has stoked controversy by removing support, first for the white supremacist site the Daily Stormer in August 2017 and then for the notorious online forum 8chan in August 2019.At the WIRED 25 conference in San Francisco today, Cloudflare CEO Matthew Prince said that he thinks the company will almost certainly drop more sites in the future. And it's inevitable that we will wring our hands and be very concerned," Prince said."The question is, what is the right role for infrastructure companies to play in policing what content is online.Prince said that Cloudflare considers itself successful when billions of people around the world use its services every day without even realizing.
