You Can Now Stream Netflix on Google Nest Hub

The most anticipated feature has arrived on the Nest Hub! Netflix has finally made its way to the Google Nest Hub and Nest Hub Max. Nest Hub is a type of homeware by Google, which acts as a smart screen to be placed in living rooms, kitchens, and bedrooms. It is designed to provide help at a glance from any room in the house featuring a built-in Google Assistant. It can be used to display pictures from Google photos, and it also comes with a dashboard for controlling the connected devices. The Google Nest Hub and Hub Max already supported streaming services like YouTube TV, Disney+, and Hulu. But it was missing out on the most popular streaming service on the planet, Netflix.

All that now seems to be changing as Google recently announced that the Nest Hub and Nest Hub Max would hold their position as the first smart displays to feature Netflix streaming. They

confirmed that the company has started rolling out the new update since 21st July. The already powerful Nest Hub will now get even better with this addition. Users can now do a whole bunch of activities using this smart screen.

The recent article published by Google confirms that users stream Netflix on their Nest Hub devices. It will also support new streaming platforms like Peacock. Linking the Netflix account with your Google Nest Hub or Nest Hub Max is fairly straightforward. A gear icon can be found in the center of the screen after launching the Google Home app. The users then need to click on the gear icon to reach the settings menu. After reaching settings, you need to select “video” under the “services” option. There, you can find an option called “link” below Netflix. Then you need to enter your Netflix account credentials to connect the account with Nest Hub.

Controlling the Streaming Services on Nest Hub

Nest Hub devices don’t support all the streaming services by default. Meaning, you won’t be able to directly link these accounts to Nest Hub. However, the cast feature may be used to stream content from these platforms on your Nest Hub. Peacock, Disney+, and HBO Max can be streamed using the cast feature. You can find the cast icon in the top-right corner of the app.

When you need to make any changes to your account, you need to click on the “+” icon after opening the Google Home app and then select the option that says “videos.” Here you can manage all the accounts of streaming platforms that you’ve connected to the Google Nest, including Netflix.

Apart from streaming content from Netflix, the new update will be bundled with a bunch of platform-specific features. For instance, you launch Netflix simply by saying “Hey Google” followed by an “open Netflix” command. If you want to watch Friends, you can say “Hey Google, play Friends” and the assistant will launch the show for you. Another good thing about having Netflix on Google Nest Hub is that all the linked apps in the Nest Hub device are handled by Google servers, so you don’t need to perform a manual update of the app when any future update to the app rolls out.

The recent developments hint towards a possibility that more and more streaming services are likely to gain Nest Hub devices’ support. It’ll be an even more seamless streaming experience if Google manages to bring the new successor of the Google Home Speaker into the picture. Currently, Google holds its position as the first one to introduce Netflix on its smart screen devices. On the other hand, Amazon Echo lets users stream movies and TV shows from platforms like Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, and a bunch of others.
