How to Secure Your Video Content

In this article, we address how to secure your online course content, particularly videos, from being copied. So let’s take a glance.

When it comes to securing your online course videos, there are various conditions– some people may know this, and others don’t mind who enters the material. But many LMS proprietors are worried about securing content to make sure it cannot be duplicated. This is acceptable for authors who’ve put plenty of hard work into their programs and don’t want important intellectual resources being made accessible publicly online. So, let’s know the different tips and methods to secure your online content and videos.

1. Disabling Copy and Right-Click

The simplest and most common strategy is disabling a copy of your content. It is done by clicking CTRL + C keys combination, and Right-clicking. By disabling it, you can protect your content from being taken for around 80% of non-tech savvy stealers.

Normally, if you want to disable a page you just want to install some lines of code. Yet, WordPress has been such a wonderful platform and has given you a comfortable solution for all kinds of issues. With WordPress, you can easily install a single plugin and get your issue solved.

Here is a list of popular plugins used to disable right-clicks:

  1. WP video and content Copy security and Right Click is restricted
  2. WP Content Copy security
  3. Right Click Disable Original
  4. Block Content Theft
  5. Copyright

But still, tech-savvy visitors can “Save page as” to save and copy your website content from the page reference. Unluckily, no plugin or maker can bypass this thing. But you don’t have to bother as only 10% of tech-savvy viewers with code can do that, so feel your site and content secured.

2. Disable Direct URL entrance from .htaccess

This is another method you can use to secure your online content and videos. You can disable direct URL entrance from the .htaccess file. In this method, no one would be able to enter your course video straightly using the URL.

With a direct entrance URL site, visitors can get any specific detail like document, section, page or view. With disabling direct URL entrance from .htaccess, no one can directly enter your content. However, it will not influence how your video displays on site.

For instance: If the URL of the course is https://e-learning/sample.mp4, and someone attempts to reach it by the URL, it will result in a 403 Error. When you download your WP website  you can see a .htaccess file created on your server automatically. If the .htaccess file is not feasible, you can build one on a text editor easily.

3. Use Watermark

There is also a useful method to protect your online video content. You can attach your name, logo or your URL as a watermark in your videos.

The purpose behind inserting a watermark in your content is to cast information on the way that you require the content. It gives the impression that you hope to be requested approval before anybody thinks to use it. So if anyone shares your content unlawfully, there will be a watermark. It’s still you that will get the cheers, reputation, followers and successive business that may come from viewers watching that content.

4. Video Sharing Services

Video-Sharing Services is a simple and helpful method to protect your online content. You can use a protective method from large tech companies to implement maximum protection to your online content. Keep that in thought you have to spend a little more for this service each month. However, it can guarantee almost no one can download your video as it is an extremely superior technique, very few people are skilled enough to set it up.
