Choose us to get the best knowledge and pet adoption.

We are a not-for-profit organization established in Northern Rhode Island. Our EIN is 83-1303806, and we are a 501(c)(3) charitable organization registered by the IRS under the moniker Elderly Pet. Our goal is to provide knowledge and education on what to expect from a senior pet so they can be with their family for as long as possible. Our main goal is to reduce senior pet abandonment, Rehoming , Rehoming a pet and euthanasia while encouraging senior pet adoption across the United States.

Pets are living longer than ever before, but as they get older, they require more care and attention. In addition, if you are not adequately prepared for your pet's old age, caring for a senior pet can be difficult. Pets are living longer than ever before thanks to improved medical care and increased awareness among pet owners. Cats and small dogs are considered senior when they reach the age of seven. Large breed dogs live shorter lives and are frequently considered senior at the age of 5 or 6.

It's also possible that older pets have less energy than they did when they were younger. Arthritis can make it difficult for your pet to run and jump as well as they used to. Many medications and therapies are available to help treat many of the common ailments that can befall an elderly pet. Orthopedic beds, raised feeding platforms, stairs, and ramps can all help your senior pet manage his or her arthritis. Behavioral changes in older pets are also common. Arthritis, difficulty breathing, insulin resistance or diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, skin problems, cancer, and other conditions can all be exacerbated by obesity in senior pets.

Regular visits to your veterinarian may aid in the detection of any of these conditions, which are more prevalent in older pets. Sudden weight loss is also cause for concern, and you should consult with your veterinarian if you have any concerns about your pet's weight. We have an online service .
