Performance And Use of High-Temperature Resistant Cables

With global warming, many products that are resistant to high temperatures have been invented. In the cable and wire industry, there is also a wire, which can withstand high temperatures, usually for use in higher temperature environments. So, what is a high-temperature resistant line? How many degrees can it withstand? And what are its uses? Follow ZMS Cable Company's editorial to learn more about it.

Definition of High-Temperature Resistant Cable

The so-called high-temperature resistant line means that this cable can withstand high temperatures. So what is different about this kind of wire that can withstand high temperatures? What are its characteristics?

Usually, the high-temperature resistant cable is made of a solid core or stranded silver-plated or nickel-plated copper wire. It mainly consists of a conductor and an insulating layer, where the insulator is processed with PFA Teflon. It generally operates at temperatures from -80 degrees Celsius to around -250 degrees Celsius and can operate at 300 degrees Celsius for a short period.

In addition to being able to resist high-temperature environments, the high-temperature resistant cable is also highly resistant to corrosion, oil, acid, alkali, insulation, moisture, high voltage, and fire. Most importantly, this type of wire is also a long-life line with long service life.

Classification of High-Temperature Resistant Cables

High-temperature resistant cables are used more and more in our lives, but not every place is using the same model of high-heat wire. What are the models of that high-heat resistant wires?

1. Polyether Ether Ketone Insulation Cable

As the name implies, it is the use of polyether ether ketone as the insulation layer of the line. Because polyether ether ketone is a super heat-resistant thermoplastic resin, the performance in heat resistance is very outstanding and can be long-term and continuous operation in a high-temperature environment of 250 degrees.

2. Polyethersulfone Insulated Cable

High-temperature cables with polyethersulfone as the insulation layer also have very obvious characteristics, such as good heat resistance, good electrical insulation, and good physical and mechanical properties. Similarly, this type of high-temperature cable can also maintain more stable performance in high-temperature environments, usually, with continuous use of the temperature at 180 degrees -200 degrees or so, the heat deflection temperature is 200 degrees -220 degrees.

3. Heat-Resistant Silicone Rubber Insulated Silicone Rubber Sheathed Cable

This is a kind of heat-resistant silicone rubber insulation silicone rubber plus a variety of metals made of the high-temperature power lines, the core material of this type of high-temperature wire is mainly made of tinned copper processing. However, in terms of specifications, this line is mainly divided into high-temperature flexible wire and high voltage wire.

The temperature of High-Temperature Resistant Cables

In addition to the electronics, communications, automotive, and other industries that have high-temperature wire applications, ordinary residential areas may also use high-heat wire. Many friends are the most interested in how many degrees a high-temperature cable can withstand. Here's a look at it.

Before talking about high-temperature cables, let's first understand how much the working temperature of ordinary lines. Usually, the common cord insulation layer materials are polyethylene, polypropylene, polyvinyl chloride, etc., with such materials made of power wire can generally be in 70 ℃ ~ 90 ℃ in long-term operation.

The insulation layer of the high-temperature cable is used PFA Teflon, it is because this material has good resistance to high temperatures, so it makes the production of the power line can be 180 ℃ and above in the long-term operation of the environment.

If you want to talk about the maximum high-temperature cable that can withstand how many degrees, it is to count 200 ℃. But in 200 ℃ high temperature, even if the high-temperature cable can not run for a long time, can only run for a shorter time, otherwise also prone to failure.

The current of High-Temperature Resistant Cable

In a high-temperature environment want to safely transport electricity, the high-heat resistant wire is preferred. But in addition to knowing how many degrees the high-temperature cable can withstand, you also need to know how much current the high-temperature cable can withstand.

We know that high-temperature resistant lines can operate in high-temperature environments of 180 °C and above for long periods. It means that the physical stability of high-temperature cables is very high. But if we want to talk about the size of the current that the high-temperature resistant cable can withstand, we need to talk about it in conjunction with the specifications of the wire.

Usually, the wire's current-carrying capacity and the amount of power it can carry are related to the size of the cross-section, if the larger the cross-section, the more power it can carry, the greater the current-carrying capacity. The opposite is getting smaller. The specifications of the line are divided into 1 square, 1.5 square, 2.5 square, 4 square, and 6 square. Therefore, different square numbers of high-temperature cables can withstand different current sizes.

For example:

1 mm² copper power cable has a safe current carrying capacity of 17A.

1.5 mm² copper power cable has a safe current carrying capacity of 21 A.

Applications of High-Temperature Resistant Cables

High-temperature cables also play a very powerful role in applications.

Heat-resistant and high-temperature wire and line are generally determined by two needs. The first is the wire and cable ambient temperature is high, the wire in the long term at high temperatures to be able to properly transmit signals or electrical energy; the other is the power transmission wire, mainly to increase the interception capacity for the main purpose.

It is often used as control wires, automobile lines, aviation conductors, rubber insulated flexible cables, and other applications in various industries such as communications, construction, automotive, and electronics.

In the electronics industry, it can be applied to high-temperature heating wire and flame retardant wire, temperature compensation wire, low-temperature resistant wire, and aging resistant wire; in the household appliance industry, it can be used in the internal wiring of electronic hot water bottles, rice castles, air conditioners, microwave ovens, and electronic disinfection cabinets and lamps and lanterns.

The above is the specific introduction of high-temperature resistant cable, I hope to have a little understanding of you. ZMS cable company's professionalism of all products is important to protect the rights and interests of customers and provide the best quality service.
