How Mobile Apps are changing various domains of our lives?

Mobile applications have been the bedrock of the undergoing digital awakening of the human civilization. The rise of smartphones led to the rise of smart-humans. They have enabled us in ways we never thought possible. The sheer ease they have introduced in our lives has transformed our way of life irreversibly. We can shop, mingle, order food, all from the comfort of our homes.

Mobile applications have enabled many industries and have allowed them to make hefty profits. Nowadays, major players in most industries are opting for custom made mobile applications for their internal workings. Furthermore, it has become almost a necessity for every business, big or small, to have its own application to reach a broader customer base.

The number of applications, Google Play Store and Apple App Store combined, is over 6 million. Thus, it is safe to assume that there is an app, for every spectrum of our lives.  So let us take a look at some of them.

1. Social Media

In the pre-smartphone age, relic web applications like Orkut, which required us to remain seated in front of the computer for hours while we socialized, were quite popular. Now, this thought seems barbaric, but then it was a reality. Social Media apps have been Smartphones' most significant offering to a modern man. We no longer need to sit in one place and wait for a message to arrive, we can do that and be mobile. These apps have connected us to extents we never thought were possible. We not only can chat but share our precious moments with our friends using these apps- wedding photos, song covers, videos, anything we want.

Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Whatsapp, are some of the top social media platforms and thanks to their clean and adequately built apps, they are the industry leaders. You can shop and chat; you can eat and chat; you can walk and chat. Possibilities are infinite.

2. Education

Mobile Applications have aided the education spectrum greatly. Once there was a time when students had to remain confined within the four walls of their classrooms where their teachers used to drone on and on for hours, and yet the outcome was never as impressive as it should have been. But mobile applications take away this stationary trait of the learning process and lets you learn where ever you want. Apart from mobility, these apps provide you with variety. With a baffling number of courses available on these apps, you can now learn anything. From teaching kids alphabet to tutoring adults in French and Spanish languages, these apps are doing it all.

Furthermore, personal education is not the only horizon these apps have bested. Mobile apps can be used to train professionals on the industry level as well. More and more companies are getting their own education apps built to train their new employees rather than hiring people to do so.

3. Industries

Industries have benefited from these apps as well. Manufacturing processes have been simplified exponentially with their help. Most industries are hiring mobile app development firms to have their in-house apps custom-tailored to suit their needs. The functioning can be different; these apps can be just for bookkeeping and inventory purposes, while some can be to keep a look over pressure and water tank levels. Some apps are linked with actual hardware, like water sprays in the irrigation field, and in industries, with sensors. These sensors predict that a hazard may occur and sends a notification to the user so that it can be evaded.

4. Fitness

With the rise in fitness trend, it was only inevitable that mobile apps will emerge to take it to a whole new level. Apps like Runkeeper and JEFIT keep track of your workout and help you in intensifying your fitness regime. They keep track of your heartbeats, the calories you have burned, your blood pressure, how many reps you have done, how many steps you walked and other such fitness metrics.

Apps like Yoga Studio and Pocket Yoga helps you with your yoga regime. These apps are designed to suit different users on different levels of their fitness agenda. From experts to amateurs, these apps cater all. Furthermore, based on users' expertise level, these apps have training modules in them to help you get started. It is almost like having a trainer in your pocket.

Apart from your physical well being, there are apps which can help you in improving your mental health as well. With rising pressure to be the best in modern man, the popularity of meditation and mindfulness apps is skyrocketing. Apps like Headspace and Calm are very popular among the people of Generation Z these days.

5. Smart Spaces

Mobile apps, with their mere presence, are turning every space into a smart space. Artificial Intelligence has been in talks for a long time now, and it has successfully taken over a lot of domains of our lives. Furthermore, virtual assistants like Apple’s Siri and Amazon’s Alexa, are turning our houses into smart houses. These assistants have eased our lives tremendously; they can tell us pretty much everything, from the weather in a foreign city to traffic on the road you take to your office daily, by merely asking them.

AI has not only helped our day to day lives, but it has aided medical, astronomy, nuclear research, and deep sea discovery fields as well.

6. Entertainment

Thanks to mobile applications, entertainment is on the go these days as well. Gone are the times when we needed to remain plastered in front of TVs and computers to watch a movie or serial, with these apps, we can take our choice of entertainment with us in our pockets. Apps like Hulu and Netflix offer their users an extensive collection of serials and movies which they can watch anywhere they want.

Music industry evolved with the coming of Spotify. The times when we needed to download songs and keep them on our devices are long gone now. With the help of apps like Apple Music and Ganna, we can listen to any song we want, without downloading it.

7. E-commerce

Commerce has always been the backbone of human civilization, from the bronze age to iron age to modern times, the fact of the matter is, humans have always bought and sold stuff, with money or in exchange of melons that they grew in their backyards. And over the years, commerce has evolved. As we started to crave more and more things, we began to experiment new ways of getting them and the most recent of inventions in this direction, has been E-Commerce. Now until and unless you have been in a cryosleep for past two decades or so, you know very well what E-Commerce is and how much it has changed our world. And Mobile Apps have done wonders for E-commerce sites as well; with the help of these apps, they have been able to get closer to their users and make deeper relations with them.

8. Other Utilities

Apps like Ola and Uber allow you to book a cab, apps like Foodpanda and Grubhub, allow you to order food from your favorite restaurant. There are apps to book hotel rooms, book holidays, book flights and tickets for movies and concerts. There are countless other domains mobile apps have conquered and have changed forever.

Conclusion

Mobile apps have embedded themselves in our lives so deeply that it is impossible to separate them from us now. Anything we need, these apps are there to help us get it. From photo editing apps to cooking apps, there is a plethora of apps on Android and Apple both, ready to be downloaded and make our lives easier.
