Is there any way to kill the redirects and old pages safely?

Ranking a website can be done in many ways according to the SEO, link building is one of those ways. Through these links, we can showcase our website to Google. When you want to migrate your website, and it has the perfect links to it, then the redirects come into the picture.

"A redirect will never pass page value indefinitely."

What happens to the redirects when you are migrating, your website or any relevant pages? The websites which have very large potential backlinks, and you do not want to miss them out, then you need to keep those redirects in their respective pages.

In the case of a few websites, dealing with redirects can be a difficult task. You can choose an SEO company or ask the existing one for help.

Internally updating the old links:

The first step in this process is that you need to redirect all the live links of your existing website to the new location.

Does this link have a value?

If you want to know the link value, then you need to check with three aspects.

If you want to know the link value, then you need to check with three aspects.

Check with the external traffic to the link.

  • Are there any valuable external links pointing to it.
  • Check with the frequency of hits from the redirect location.

You can check the value of your website links with these three aspects. Compare the output with your requirements. Based on that, you can either eliminate or keep the link.

When you are migrating, a website which consists of more than 100 blogs and you redirect the old pages to your new website location. Is it necessary to keep all the redirects? The redirects which are having less traffic and do not have any valuable links pointing towards them, then these redirects can be killed safely. If any redirects do have one valuable link pointing towards it, then you can keep that link.

 With the help of rubric:

Create a rubric to analyze the redirects. The following rubric can be an example:

In the last six months if the page has less than 100 visits.

  1. The Majestic value of the page is less than or equal to 5.
  2. If the page is only related to a specific event.

In all the above three cases that concerned website is not eligible for redirection. You can check the pages according to this rubric and draft a report within a few hours. Once you drafted everything out, you can start writing the new content for generating new links.

In regular intervals, the redirects need to have a check and eliminate or kill the unwanted redirects. Do not concentrate so much on the old links and start generating the new links.

When you plan to kill any of your directories it is better you approach a reputable digital marketing company. They will have the professionals in the area and can do your work with ease.
