If Your Pan Card Is Lost So What You Should To Do?

PAN card is a very very important document in India. Losing a PAN card is very bad and gives you nightmare. However, when you lose your PAN, you do not have to worry as the Government has made adequate means through which you can apply for duplicate pan card without mush hassle. However, he has to remember few things. Apart from easing the process of tax paying, the PAN card also serves as ID proof in the bank for making deposits, while travelling (for all modes of travel). In such cases, check with the officials for the alternative to be provided. You can report loss of PAN card through the online portal created by the Government. When you lose PAN card, apply pan card online which is not only quick but also hassle free method of getting the duplicate PAN. While filling up the online form, you should be careful enough not to make any mistake as it will delay the process of getting new pan.

The government has made provisions for reprinting the PAN card that is available online in a simple as well as trouble free manner.

Let’s see the steps involved in it.

  • Log into the website of TIN/NSDL
  • In the online application form select the TAB menu
  • Select the “Reprint PAN Card” option which is meant for stolen, misplaced or lost PAN card
  • This will lead to the option “Online Application for changes/correction in PAN data link
  • Once you select that fill up the details such as Permanent Account Number, applicant’s name, address, contact number, email id, etc.
  • Upload the self-attested documents such as photographs and ID proof
  • Application fee of Rs 107/- for the resident individual and Rs 989/- in case of those residing outside India should be paid through debit or credit card or net banking or demand draft.
  • Once all the above steps are completed an acknowledgement number will be generated which you have to save it for future use.
  • A duplicate PAN card with the same PAN number will be mailed by post to the address given in the form within 2 weeks’ time.

Now we have seen how to go for pan card apply online. Let’s see here how to do it offline.

  • Get the application form “Request for New PAN changes or Correction in PAN Data” which can be had from the TIN facilitation centres or any IT PAN Service Centres or PAN centres. Some stationery shop will also have this form.
  • Otherwise download it from website of the Income Tax department https://www.incometaxindia.gov.in/ or in UTIITSL website www.utiitsl.com or in NSDL website https://www.tin-nsdl.com/
  • Fill up the PAN application form in BLOCK letters with black ink and should be filled up in English only.
  • Mention the existing 10 digit PAN number filling up one character in each box and after each word leave a blank.
  • Affix recent passport photograph (2 nos) and signature or left thumb impression is required in the box provided
  • If it is thumb impression, then it should be attested by gazetted officer or magistrate or public notary
  • Processing fee of Rs 105/- for resident of India and Rs 866/- for those residing abroad is to be paid. This can be paid at the time of submission of the form by way of cash or cheque or DD.

Now that you know the procedure for getting back your lost PAN card, you need not have to worry about anything and can get your duplicate PAN without any hassle.
