How to Deal With Tinnitus

Tinnitus is a buzzing or humming noise  Sonus Complete Review    which is heard in some conditions of the ear. It is to be noted that tinnitus is a subjective feeling. This means that the noise is audible only to the patient. Tinnitus is caused by many different conditions of the ear, namely infections, trauma, new growths etc. Most tinnitus resolves spontaneously, however tinnitus due to chronic conditions of the ear is persistent and tends to cause a lot of agony to the patient.Standard treatments provide little succor to a patient with chronic tinnitus, primarily because the condition is refractory to standard therapies. Even though chronic tinnitus is difficult to cure, there are plenty of options available with us to reduce the noise levels to a acceptable level. In the succeeding paragraphs I will be discussing two such options.

Yoga
It has been observed in many studies that stress worsens tinnitus. Stress also leads to tight sore muscles around the head and neck thus exacerbating tinnitus. Yoga and meditation are great tools to help you distress yourself. It will help the muscles around your head and neck to relax and provide much needed relief from tinnitus. To start with you can try this pose- It is called the cat pose. Get on your hands and knees and arch your back upwards. Hold this for a few seconds before arching your back the other way. This will help to reduce the tension in the muscles and decrease tinnitus noises. You may even notice an immediate reduction. It is not necessary to join a yoga class for this purpose, but having a trained instructor will speed up the learning curve.

Hearing Aids
As mentioned before tinnitus is caused by various conditions of the ears. Amongst these the most important cause of tinnitus is reduced hearing. With hearing loss the sensitivity of your ears to the external noises decreases. As a result all internal noises are magnified causing tinnitus. It is because of this fact that the primary work up of any patient with chronic tinnitus includes a test of hearing. If the hearing test does show some hearing loss then hearing aid may be the panacea to your problems. Hearing aid helps lower tinnitus by amplifying the external noises. In this process the internal noises are drowned out and the patient feels better. In fact hearing aids are one of the most popular and effective solutions for tinnitus. The above mentioned methods to control tinnitus barely scratch the surface of this huge subject. There are many other methods available which will reliably cause reduction in the tinnitus. Most of these can be tried out from the comfort of your home.
