October 16, 2019: Pradeep Singh Kharola, secretary to the ministry of civil aviation, on Tuesday inaugurated the International Civil Aviation Organization’s (ICAO) Performance-Based Navigation (PBN) workshop for air traffic control officers (ATCOs) in New Delhi.
Instructors Raphael Guillet and HuHo Ha from ICAO Sub-Regional Office, Beijing are providing the training on October 15-18, 2019 at the Indian Aviation Academy (IAA), Vasant Kunj.
The workshop in collaboration with Airport Authority of India (AAI) is being attended by officers from CAA Nepal, DGCA India and air traffic controllers from 44 airports in India.
While welcoming the participants and ICAO Instructors, Kharola stressed upon the need for AAI to implement PBN in accordance with ICAO plans and national needs.

September 28, 2019: The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has launched the SkyFit mobile application to address the challenges brought about by occupational stress in aviation personnel.
SkyFit is devised to address the occupational stress of aviation personnel like air traffic controllers, pilots, cabin crews, ground handlers, and even air passengers.
Erratic shift timings and trans-meridian flight results in asynchrony between aviation personnel’s daily rhythms.
This lack of synchrony results in shift-lag syndrome (due to changes in work schedule) and jet-lag syndrome (due to trans-meridian flights) severely affects the body clock specifically airline pilots, cabin crew, air traffic controllers and air passengers.
Developed by #AAI, SkyFit focuses on solving the occupational stress faced by aviation professionals like pilots ATCOs, cabin crew and also passengers through simple breathing techniques made in consultation with Yogic experts & senior medical consultants.
Long term exposure to the stress is posing severe health issues like hypertension, ischaemic heart disease, diabetes, peptic ulcers and psychoneurotic disorders for the people employed in aviation.
December 03, 3019: Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) is planning to spend Sh350 million to renovate Wilson Airport in Nairobi, which caters mainly to domestic flights.
Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) director general Gilbert Kibe mentioned a host of factors, which hinder the optimum functioning of the airport, necessitated the "comprehensive" renovation.
The fund will be utilised to repair the airport's runway, taxiway, apron along with other key infrastructure.
"Wilson Airport has grown to about one million passengers a year, though it was designed for half that number.
KCAA director-general Gilbert Kibe told the Business Daily that major works on the project will start once local firms with planes exceeding seven tonnes operating at Wilson Airport relocate to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).
