Jasprit Bumrah will Undergo Treatment

With the rest of the India cricket team battling it out against South Africa in the Test Series, they are missing Jasprit Bumrah as he was injured. The stress fracture on his lower back forced him out of the final lineup on the Test Series. No timeframe has been stated regarding his injury.

Andrew Leipus, a former physiotherapist, stated that these types of injuries usually need at least a month to recover. He said that it depends on whether it is just a stress reaction or a bone stress injury. Stress reactions need only four to six weeks of an active rehabilitation programme. Bone stress injuries at least three to six months, and a bilateral fracture can last for more than a year.

Bumrah will travel to the United Kingdom this October to receive further treatment. He was declared out for a minimum of two months. This is the first time that the bowler has been injured in his three and a half year international cricket career.

The Indian bowler has been critical to many of India’s recent victories. He is one of the team’s formidable weapons. He has been good at capturing wickets and is a key in India’s defence as well. His absence has been felt as the team needed to adjust their playing style without the fast bowler.

His impressive outings in South Africa, England, Australia, and the West Indies were the signs of his growth as India’s main bowler. He took five-wicket hauls in each country, including a hat trick in the Carribean that propelled India into winning a 2-0 series.

India has been considered invincible at home and is eyeing its 11th consecutive Test Series win at home. The feat will be the first in both Test Series and International cricket. But they will have to defend home ground without their fast bowler.

India has adjusted in missing key players and has adapted well as shown in their training video posted byBCCI. Their resilience has always been the key in winning games - a mentality headed by captain Virat Kohli in most games.

The men in blue lost to the Proteas last time before Bumrah was injured. That 9-wicket loss was surprising, especially for the Indian fans. The team left the stadium searching for answers for what went wrong during that game. Kohli, on the other hand, has been very vocal with their recent defeat.

The captain blamed his batsmen for not being able to build a big lead enough to defend as they opted to bat first. The Proteas read their play early, and had taken a chance on the panicking men in blue.

The team has been battling out the Proteas since October 2nd. The 1st Test will be concluded this Saturday as the team looks to protect the home ground from the Proteas.
