If you are planning to register the new or exchanged Garmin device online on Garmin express, then this post is for you. Go through the steps carefully and apply them to your device.
To register a new garmin device
- Connect the Garmin device to the computer through the USB data cable.
- Go to ‘Garmin Express’ from the computer and read on-screen instructions to install the Garmin Express software. If you have already installed the software, then no need to download it again.
- When you connect any new device, you will get a prompt message on the screen indicating a new device is recently added.
- If you don’t get the message on the screen, then click on ‘Add a device’ manually.
- If the Express recognizes the device, you need to select ‘Add a device’. If in case it doesn’t recognize, you can troubleshoot the problem by clicking on the bottom of the link given on the page.
- Now, enter the email address which you use mostly for receiving the messages in the box given. If you are already a registered user, then enter the same email address and proceed to the next step.
- If you forgot the Garmin account created earlier with the email address, then you need not worry. You can recover the account either by entering the details of the product or by contacting the Garmin experts.
- Tap ‘Next’.
- Sometimes, the Garmin express page doesn’t fit on the computer screen and you will not find the ‘Next’ option. In such cases, change the resolution of the screen so that the Garmin express fits on the screen and all the menu starts appearing on it.
- Enter the nickname of your device if you want to set any new.
- Click ‘Next’.
- In this step, you need to select your consent for sending or receiving the anonymous data collection.
- The device is now registered on the email address cited earlier and you can start using the Garmin GPS without any problem.
If the Garmin device is recognized by the computer but not by the Garmin Express, then check the update if available for your Garmin.com/express from the ‘Gear icon’ given on the top of the software screen.
Run Garmin Express as an administrator
Sometimes running the Garmin Express as an administrator may troubleshoot the problem.
- Search for the Garmin express in the shortcut menu or in the start menu.
- Click on it and run as an administrator.
- If you are on the start menu from Windows 10, then click on ‘Administrator’ from ‘More’ option.
- Remove the device from the Express window and add it again from scratch. The steps to add the device are:
- Go home and click on the device to remove it.
- Click ‘Remove’
- Go to ‘Add a device’.
