Making sure your hair is healthy is as important as ensuring the health of the body. There is many essential factors in determining hair health than just the shampoo you use. There might be a factor of taking care of hair that you weren’t born with—but most of it depends upon the factor of how well you care for your hair. From changing shampoos every year to schedule for haircuts, some of the healthy habits for hair growth are:

  1. Getting regular hair cuts

The ends are drying and splitting, which can slow down hair growth. If you are not cutting your hair regularly, they might get a week and break. Regular haircuts, on the other hand, can minimalise split ends and hair breakage. It is important to understand the hair trimmed every eight weeks.

  1. Use natural hair products

Your hair requires rest from all that it bears the entire week. Use organic herbal shampoo with conditioner, and leave them to air dry. Avoid using heat styling products and don’t tie them in to a ponytail or headbands to avoid pulling of the hair.

  1. Never ignore the scalp!

A healthy scalp means healthy hair. If you are constantly scratching your hair for dryness and itchiness, it is essential that you consult a doctor. An itchy scalp can be problematic if that particular spot becomes sore.

  1. Maintaining a healthy diet

Healthy hair is a result of a balanced and healthy diet. Protein is the building block of hair and not eating a healthy diet means deficiency of essential nutrient which can help in growing healthy hair. Hair is a non-essential tissue, so proteins don’t go to the hair but they first go for important organs which maintain a healthy body.  

  1. Avoid using hot tools

If you like to blow dry your hair after every wash, it is important that you keep the concentration of the heat on the lowest level. It may take a bit longer, but it will not destroy your hair. On the other hand, if you use a hot curling iron or straightening iron, it is important to use a protectant serum or spray before to avoid any heat damage.

  1. Deep condition every week

This is a healthy habit. Incorporating a deep conditioner in to your weekly hair care routine for extra hydration can help in healthy hair growth.

  1. Do not go for hot showers

Hot showers may sound like a good thing after a long day, especially in winters, but hot water doesn’t help the hair. Hot showers may strip the natural oil of the hair and can result in dry hair. And if you have coloured hair, it can wash out your colour faster than cold water. While cold showers may not sound great, but they are beneficial to have moisturised and nourished skin.

  1. Don’t over brush your hair

Brushing is a healthy habit but brushing more than once a day can also result in hair breaking. Opt for a plastic brush. Bristle brushes are typically tough on hair.
