Does induction cooking affect health?

Induction cookers use electromagnetic fields. This effect is considered by skeptics and opponents of food preparation on induction to be its biggest disadvantage. Is that right?

The house is live

Every day we surround ourselves with a multitude of devices that produce electric, magnetic and electromagnetic fields. RTV equipment, washing machines, mobile phones, computers and household appliances. So it's not just cooking on an induction kitchen that is exposed to radiation. We use facilities that use such radiation all the time. Electromagnetic fields are never indifferent to the human body. Most often it can make you feel worse. However, for a reaction to electromagnetic waves to grow to the rank of a pathology and cause more or less serious illness, an unfortunate coincidence is necessary:

  • a high intensity of electromagnetic field,
    a long period of exposure,
the distance between man and the source of the field.

So far, it has not been fully investigated how long the electromagnetic field radiation must last to cause visible lesions in humans. Little is known about immunity to its effects on the elderly, sick people and children. So far, only the influence of very strong, artificial fields on the human body has been determined. Their effects have been broad ranging from depression to cardiac arrest.

Induction cooking - harmful or not?

In the case of induction cooking, the radiation is almost entirely converted into eddy currents at the bottom of a ferromagnetic pot. No electromagnetic fields appear in the cooker, as they are captured by the material of the induction cooker. Furthermore, no harmful effects on the human body have been observed when using household appliances with low levels and/or short periods of radiation.

According to recent studies and opinions, an industrial frequency magnetic field can be harmful to human health if it is exposed to it regularly within 8 hours a day for several years. Therefore, for an induction cooker to be the reason for the deterioration of our health, we would have to spend as much time with it as at work. We know very well that this is physically impossible. Unless we're preparing a sumptuous meal for an entire army regiment, and even that doesn't happen every day.

So the frequency range and power of household appliances don't harm a man. Especially if, during induction cooking, the appliance is used according to the instructions. In the case of an induction hob, the electromagnetic field operates only in a small (2-3 cm) space above the surface of the heating field and usually closes within the area of the pot where the cooking takes place.
