Toyota Glanza vs Maruti Suzuki Baleno: What all is different and which one is a better purchase?

No doubt Toyota Glanza and Maruti Suzuki Baleno are similar. If you do away with the grille and badgings of the new product, it will be next to impossible to distinguish it from the segment leader. Glanza features a two slat 3D chrome grille, which is a differentiating factor.

HIGHLIGHTS OF BALENO:

Look and Style: Looks good, eye catching.

Comfort: Very comfortable when compared to all other cars in this range.

Mileage: Travelled 2500 km. Getting 22/23 on Highway with AC halftime even before the first service. 17 in Bangalore City which is ok compared to others.

Best Features: Looks

One can safely say that the warranty period of the two premium hatchbacks and the price difference between Glanza G MT and Baleno Zeta Petrol Smart Hybrid are the only significant distinguishing factors between the two premium hatchbacks. Rest everything is same. Both cars are based on the same platform and offer similar features.

Maruti Suzuki Baleno is available in 9 Petrol variants, out of which 3 are automatic and 6 are manual. The base Petrol variant Baleno Sigma starts at Rs. 5.68 lakh. and the top-end Petrol variant Baleno Alpha CVT is priced at Rs. 9.00 lakh.

 HIGHLIGHTS OF GLANZA:

Toyota Glanza is available in G MT, V MT, G CVT and V CVT variants.

Glanza is available with a standard 3 years or 1 lakh km warranty.

Entry-level Glanza G MT is priced at Rs 7,21,900 (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The two cars get identical interiors, sans the badging on the steering wheel. The Smartplay Studio infotainment that we see in Maruti Suzuki Baleno has been used in Toyota Glanza as well. However, it has been christened as Smart Playcast in the new premium hatchback.

Toyota Glanza is available in G MT, V MT, G CVT and V CVT variants. Powering the G MT trim is a mild hybrid, K-series, 4-cylinder, BS6-compliant, 1.2-litre petrol engine that makes 89.7 PS and 113 Nm of torque. The other three variants get the non-hybrid, K-series, 4-cylinder, BS6-compliant, 1.2-litre petrol mill that produces 82.9 PS and 113 Nm of torque. Transmission options include 5-speed manual and CVT.
