Top 8 Reasons to Visit Mahableshwar on Your Next Trip

As a tourist, hill stations and forests are always favorite places to visit. And in India, Maharashtra alone, is reportedly 17, 340 sq. steps of the mountains. Herein lies, one of the most beautiful towns in the western Ghats i.e. Mahabaleshwar. In the past, it was British Summer Capital and still possess that colonial character today. Located in the Sahyadris district of Maharashtra, the local name for the Western Ghats draws many visitors. And, Monsoon is one of Mahabaleshwar's best times to travel.

With that being said, here we are, to tell you the reasons why should visit Mahabaleshwar for your next trip. Let’s start:

1] The View

In Mahabaleshwar, there are nearly 25 locations, each with a wonderful view of the valley. There is a collection of magnificent fields packed with luxuriant green trees, gloomy clouds and dark valleys. These valleys are worth visiting particularly during monsoons. Almost throughout the year, the weather in Mahabaleshwar is very cool. Visit Mapro Gardens on a path to Panchgani for eyesight (and taste!) of juicy and truly glorious berries.

2] Activities

In Mahabaleshwar, there is a nice bundle of fun and adventure, such as trekking, cycling, boating, birding, hiking and exploring the cellars of thrill-seekers. There you can also find plenty of peaceful and unspoiled areas in breathtaking scenery to offer honeymooners, nature lovers and families with children peace and relaxation.

3] Venna Lake

There is a lake in every hill station and Mahabaleshwar is no exception. Whether for boats and picnics or simply for enjoying the beauty of the lake, this is one of Mahabaleshwar's must-see sites. The quiet and tranquil Lake Venna is a lovely location for a picnic and provides sports like boating. People come during the monsoon to visit these lakes. The waters of the Lingamala waterfalls are near the lake. You should spend half a day in the cascades and experience their true strength during the monsoons.

4] Connaught Peak

Connaught Peak was originally called Mount Olympia and then dubbed Connaught Duke. From an elevation of 1400 m above sea level, it provides the most beautiful views of Venna Lake and the Krishna Valley. In addition to looking at the breathtaking Panchgani, Venna Lake, and Krishna Valley, travelers will appreciate this beautiful spot for a picnic. Picnicking in Mahabaleshwar and Panchgani is one of the best things to do because of its picturesque position.

5] Pratapgad

The Pratapgad Fort was built in the seventeenth century about 25 kilometers from Mahabaleshwar. It is 3450 meters above sea level. The war of Pratapgad between Shivaji and Afzal Khan, established under the leadership of Chatrapati Shivaji, vanquished the enemies of the Marathas. The fort witnessed a lot of combat and survived to say a lie. It's surely one of Mahabaleshwar's finest locations to visit.

6] Old Mahabaleswar

Old Mahabaleswar is home to three towns: Old Mahabaleswar, Malcolm Peth, and Shindola Village. Nevertheless, much of New Mahabaleswar's tourism places are a kshetra. The source of the Krishna river is supposed to come in the old temple from the mouth of a cow. Four more flows, including Koyna, Venna, Savitri, and Gayatri, run from the dam. The Temple of Panchganga invites local people as well as tourists to get the river darshan.

7] Kate’s Point and Viewpoints galore

Each hill station has many views of the top of hills that offer you incredible views. Kate's Point and Viewpoints are perfect. In addition to Kate's Points and two reservoirs–Balakwadi and Dhom, some of the best locations to visit in Mahabaleshwar, three are Monkey Point, Arthur Point, Elephant Point, Wilson Point. The Elephant Point is located close to Kate's Point, sometimes referred to as Needle's Point, and has a small break in the existing rock structure. Some people claim that it looks like the trunk of an elephant, and hence the name.

8] Strawberries and Cherries

Agri-tourism is one of the key factors why Mahabaleshwar is visited by visitors. More than 85% of the land items come from Mahabaleshwar and Panchgani, along with mulberry, gooseberry, and raspberry. The British from Australia introduced these fruits here and the locals have taken the farming methods. If you want to pluck strawberries, check for different hotels in Mahabaleshwar to support you or you can even stay in one of the farms.

Although foodies may get anything they want— from ice cream strawberry to crushes, the mountain station provides nutritious and fresh food from the fields, such as carrots and radish.
