Learning About Lean Six Sigma

The ongoing outbreak of coronavirus presents an alarming situation in the minds of all. From domestic workers to the private sector employees, this pandemic has held everybody’s lives. In a situation that is impacting everybody globally, it is necessary to keep ourselves occupied by doing something or the other. KPMG believes that knowledge never goes to waste and therefore, encourages its public to always learn new concepts and programs that are of integral importance to the industry.

When in 1996 James Womack and Daniel Jones defined Lean, businesses knew this would be their calling. Just like Six Sigma, Lean is a philosophical way to eliminate the unnecessary steps during creation of a product so that steps that add value could only be taken into consideration. It uses PDCA- Plan Do Check Act Cycle, an iterative four-step management theory that talks about how one must plan their desired results, perform it or bring it to action accordingly, measure/ monitor the results and then finally take necessary steps to fill in the gaps between the desired and the end result.
