Though each type of treatment has its pros and cons, your choice of treatment will affect your recovery process. By learning about all the solutions, you may choose the best one as per your needs.

This blog is dedicated to people looking for various options for kidney problems, including natural therapy.

Ayurvedic Treatment for Nephrotic Syndrome

Dialysis

Dialysis is one of the three treatment options to filter the blood when your kidneys are unable to do so. It is done with the help of a machine that takes the impurities out from the blood. You need dialysis when you develop end-stage renal failure; usually, by this time, you lose more than 80 to 90% of your kidney function. GFR at this stage would be somewhere around 15.

There are two types of dialysis done to do some of the functions of the kidneys.

Hemodialysis

In hemodialysis, an artificial kidney is used to sift the waste and extra fluid from your blood. To get the blood into the artificial kidney, the doctor does a small surgery to make access to the blood vessels inside the body. Sometimes, ingression is made by joining an artery to a vein under your skin to make a bigger blood vessel called a fistula. However, if your blood vessels cannot sustain a fistula, he may use a soft plastic tube to link an artery and a vein under your skin.

Peritoneal dialysis

It is about cleansing the blood inside the body. The doctor does surgery to place a plastic tube into your abdomen. During the blood filtration process, your abdominal area is injected with a fluid called dialysate with the help of a catheter. The blood stays in the arteries and veins that line your peritoneal cavity. Extra fluid and waste products are taken out into the dialysate solution. The only difference between hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis is that the latter one is done inside of the body and can be done anytime a day while the former is done three times a week.

Pros and cons of in-center dialysis and home hemodialysis

Pros: Dialysis center

  1. Trained health care providers stay with you at all times.
  2. You may not need any trained partner or equipment in your home.

Cons: Dialysis center

  1. You have to rely on the hospital’s schedule for the treatment
  2. More restriction on diet and liquids
  3. Having too much fluid in your blood can raise blood pressure
  4. Feeling better after treatment may take more time.

Pros: Peritoneal dialysis

  1. You are more in control of your treatment
  2. You’ll have fewer complications in how you feel in your everyday life
  3. You do not have to go to the dialysis center every once in a while

Cons: Peritoneal dialysis

  1. Not all dialysis centers offer home dialysis treatment
  2. You need someone else to support you in the treatment
  3. You and your family may be in greater stress for this requires a time boundation
  4. You’ll need to learn to put dialysis needles into your vascular access.

Transplant

A transplant is a surgical procedure done to substitute a healthy donor with an unhealthy kidney from a dead or a deceased donor. A transplanted kidney does the required function of the kidneys and keeps you healthy than dialysis. But, there are major drawbacks of taking a kidney transplant. When you undergo a transplant, the surgeon usually leaves your kidneys and attaches the donated kidney to an artery and a vein in your groin. The surgeon also transplants the ureter from the donor to let the urine flow from your new kidney into the bladder. The body normally attacks anything that is foreign or new to it. And to prevent the body from attacking this donor organ, you will need to rely on immunosuppressants. These anti-rejection medicines have side-effects on your body, such as diabetes, high blood pressure, weight gain.

While you wait for the donor, you may need to start dialysis because the kidneys are not functional at this time.

Pros: Transplant

  1. A transplanted kidney works as your own kidney
  2. Better quality of life
  3. A person who undergoes a kidney transplant has a greater life expectancy
  4. You won’t need dialysis

Cons

  1. The surgery involves certain risks, such as infections
  2. You may have to wait years for a compatible kidney from the donor
  3. Sometimes the body may reject the donor’s kidney
  4. You’ll need to take anti-rejection medicines for a lifetime

Ayurvedic treatment

Ayurvedic treatment is a better option than the above-mentioned procedures or therapies. Ayurveda is an old-remedial science that gives you control over your life as it works on the depleted energy. Ayurvedic remedies or herbal remedies revive the damage to the filters within the kidneys, such as glomerulus and tubules. So that kidney disease is eliminated from its roots. This is particularly good for your health as no surgery is involved, and the treatment remains painless throughout the time. It is not a treatment rather a way to revive damage done to the kidneys and so a cure.

Ayurvedic herbs like Kaasni, Punarnava, Shirish, and many others are laden with anti-oxidative, diuretic, and anti-inflammatory properties so that kidneys may function once again.

Ayurveda gives you more control over the treatment approach than dialysis and transplant. You are prescribed certain herbal medications, lifestyle changes, and dietary modifications that pave the path for a new health journey.

The only consequence of this treatment is that it depends upon your body, if ayurvedic medications may work on it or not.
