How To Cool Your Room During Summer

Summer has now begun, and the heat is getting intense every day. When the heat increases, it makes us quite uncomfortable and makes it difficult to focus on work. The summer season also makes it hard to sleep at night due to the hot weather. If you are living in a small and congested room, it warms up quickly, making it worse than the large spaces to live in because of limited air circulation. Hence, the summer heat and space congestion can make it difficult to sleep at night.

Sleep deprivation can cause more issues during the summer season as we always feel exhausted due to sweltering heat, and lack of sleep can make it worse. Hence, to ensure that we have proper sleep at night, we must cool down our room. One of the easiest ways of cooling down the room is turning the air condition on, and the room will cool down within few minutes. However, if you don’t have air conditioning in your room, there are other ways of cooling it down. Here are the methods via which you can cool down your room.

Invest in good quality curtains and blinds

Restricting the sunlight from entering your room can reduce the heat of your room and help to make it cooler. You need to invest in good quality blinds and curtains, which can prevent the bright and hot sunlight from entering your room. Keep the curtains pulled, and the blinds closed during the daytime.

Close the doors

It will be surprising for you to know that how much heat travels through your doors. Generally, light can also equate to heat. Hence, if you close the doors uptight and keep the room dark, it shall get rid of the excess heat out of your room.

Ice and fan

It is one of the old-school tricks that people once used ages ago when air conditioners were not so much in use. They would place a large bowl of ice. They would keep the ice bowl in a place where the fan would blow across it. The airflow, then, would be cool and misty, which felt comfortable during the hot summer.

Cotton sheets

If you are opting for new bedsheets during the summer season, then buy cotton bed sheets and pillow covers. Cotton bead sheets are breathable material that enables the air to pass in and out easily, which helps to keep the bed cool and also your body while sleeping. Synthetic fabrics like nylon and silk trap the heat and make the bed hotter, making it difficult to sleep at night.

Drink more water

Water is a natural cooler of the body, and thus you should drink more of it during the summertime. Staying hydrated is also essential for maintaining your health and prevent dehydration during the summertime. On average, a person must drink around 8-9 glasses of water throughout the day to meet the body’s fluid requirement. It also cools you down and restricts the risk of heatstroke during the summer.
