Are You Suffering From Knee Pain? Here Are Some Common Causes

Knee pain is prevalent these days. These originate in bone structures that include joints, patella, and meniscus. Suffering from knee pain is the most daunting one. More simplistic tasks like walking, climbing stairs cause discomfort to the person. The severity of knee pain depends on many factors that can be considered by taking age into account. Orthopedic Doctors say that the common causes for knee pains can be many. So, the treatment depends upon its cause.  It can be due to injuries and arthritis. So, avascular necrosis knee treatments are referred to when the cells in the bones die because of getting insufficient blood supply. It causes pain and difficulty in moving the knee. It’s a rare cause that causes knee pain.

Here Are the Causes of the Knee Pain

  • Ligament Injuries in Knee: Bones and cartilage are joined through ligaments. They are made from a rubbery tissue that supports the joints. Any injury in the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), Posterior cruciate ligament (PCL), Lateral collateral ligament (LCL), and Medial collateral ligament causes severe pain. The swelling and the person's inability to put on weight on the knees make life miserable. The ligament injuries heal with time. So you should avoid giving pressure on the knees. For multiple ligament injuries, sometimes surgeries are needed.

  • Arthritis: Arthritis causes inflammation in the bone structure of the knee. Osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis is the most common form of the knee arthritis. The thighbone, shinbone, and kneecap end are covered with a slippery substance that helps to bend the knee. It provides outer coverage by providing cushion to the joints, making it safe. In osteoarthritis, cartilage causes the knee joints to become rough so, space between the bones gets decreased. It develops with time and causes severe pain in the knee. Rheumatoid arthritis attacks multiple joints causing stiffness and swelling.

  • Torn Meniscus: It occurs in the cartilage that protects the shinbone and thighbone. The primary cause of torn meniscus is forcefully twisting the knee joints. It is a common injury that happens as an outcome of a cartilage tear. Its pain gets worsens with time and causes stiffness, discomfort. In older persons, it causes degeneration where the knee starts getting thinner and weaker. Its treatment includes surgery in severe cases. Otherwise, for mild injuries, physiotherapy and certain medications are helpful. However, if you have osteoarthritis later, there are more chances of developing meniscus tears.
