Amy Baker, CEO and Founder of The PIE, has joined the MSM International Advisory Board as another industry-recognized member.

Originally a journalist and editor before turning entrepreneur, Baker founded The PIE, a well-known and trusted independent media brand offering news and analysis for professionals in international education around the world. She founded the platform in 2011 along with two professional associates.

Reaching 3.9 million people since launch, The PIE has a successful executive search division and the well-received annual event The PIE Live & The PIEoneer Awards. It has emerged as a multi-faceted company which is uniquely positioned to understand challenges and opportunities globally in the industry.

As she becomes part of the MSM Board, Baker looks forward to hearing more global and informed perspectives in the industry, such as on the development of online learning at this challenging time.

“Post-coronavirus, we will see (and are already seeing) a realization that online learning can have positive impacts on how we learn and engage, and a rethinking of how to reach and engage with international students and offer them immersive experiences that will always contain a digital element,” she said.

Baker travels widely attending industry events, engaging with global agenda-setters, and still finds time to sometimes write content for The PIE. She spent a year in France as part of her degree in journalism from City University, London.

“Amy’s decision to join us marks a special milestone for MSM. Amy is a valuable addition to the Board with her track record of truth-telling, expansive industry network, and sharp market insight intelligence from years of reportage,” MSM CEO and Founder Sanjay Laul said.

Of the composition of the Board, he added: “At an uncertain time and with a pandemic ravaging entire sectors, we feel secure and assured with this roster of leading experts and voices in higher education, government advisory bodies, and innovation-driven groups in the international education space.”

Baker joins other members of the International Advisory Board, namely Cape Breton University (CBU) President, the Honorable David C. Dingwall; Sarah Todd, Vice President for Global at Griffith University and President of the Asia Pacific Association for International Education (APAIE); Raghwa Gopal, President and CEO at Innovate BC Canada; Markus Laitinen, Past President of European Association for International Education EAIE Europe; and Clark Hortsing, Vice President for Sales and Marketing at Guard.me International Insurance Canada.
