Last year, I added Apple's iPhone update program to change my phone every year without the hassle of selling an old one on eBay. Since I distributed the cost to monthly payments with 0% interest, I decided on the best model: iPhone XS Max. As I wrote on this blog, it was a wonderful phone, but at a high price. And although I paid monthly for this iPhone and not in a lump sum, the payments were still quite high. So I chose iPhone 11 this year, which is really the iPhone for everyone.
The iPhone 11 is thin and slim, and its glass back means that most of the time it is quite grip when held with bare hands. But its matte edges are a little slippery, and as much as I would like to go with my iPhone without a fall, I can't take the risk. Although I have never broken the screen of an iPhone before and this iPhone is covered with AppleCare+ as part of the iPhone update program, I only know that I will leave it as soon as I use an iPhone without a case.

The camera is the main new feature
The most striking feature when Apple introduces new iPhones these days is the camera. The reason is obvious: there is no longer much room for progress on a smartphone. Yes, the processor is faster, the screen may be a little better, the battery lasts longer and improves the audio, but these small incremental changes are not enough to affect most people.
However, new features such as iPhone 11's ultra wide lens or iPhone 11 Pro triple camera provide consumers with new and improved technologies in an essential feature for many users. Smartphones are rarely used more for phone calls; and although the camera is not the essential element of a smartphone, most importantly, the ability of the device to access the Internet, remains a widely used feature. Given the way Apple announces the new iPhone, it could almost be called Apple iCamera.
Other new features and pricing
To be honest, there's no reason to upgrade next to the camera if you have an iPhone XS or XS Max. And if you have last year's iPhone XR, the differences between it and the iPhone 11 base are minimal. However, if you switch from an older iPhone, especially an older model to X, you will be surprised by these new devices. Screens are better, battery life improves considerably, and if you increase some generations, you will notice the zippered processor.
In terms of price, iPhone 11 is much more affordable and costs one-third less than iPhone 11 Pro Max. Starting at $699 (compared to $999 for iPhone 11 Pro and $1099 for iPhone 11 Pro Max), iPhone 11 is a price drop compared to last year's iPhone XR (which started at $749) and a really good price-performance ratio. Even with 256 GB of storage, it only costs $849, though most people can get along with less because much of its content is in the cloud.
The Goldilocks phone
The iPhone 11 (do I dare the “iPhone 11 amateur? “) is the Goldilocks phone; as Apple says on its website, it has “just the right amount of everything”. The screen size is in the middle (6.1" vs 5.8" or 6.5" for Pro models), the display is not HDR, but it is certainly good enough and has essentially the same hardware inside.
If you work in the iPhone upgrade program and do not need the features of the Pro models, iPhone 11 is a good choice: it offers most of the same specifications, except for the camera, at an affordable price. If you upgrade from an older phone, you won't be disappointed, as the changes of recent years have resulted in a much more powerful phone.
