A lot of postural problems are usually caused by the time spent daily hunched over computers at work or driving a vehicle. If you have been struggling with your posture then the good news is that you can use yoga to improve your posture. Here are some top yoga poses that can help you improve your posture.

Mountain pose

This pose looks simple but when you do it correctly, it can be a little complex because it teaches you to sense when you have perfectly vertically aligned your body. It takes a lot of correction and practice to be able to do this pose on your own.

You may overcompensate for the tendency to slouch by pushing your shoulders too far back when you start. This isn’t the point of this pose. The point of this poses is to help you find a neutral body position where you are not leaning forward or back and your body feels symmetrical on either side.

Shoulder opener

This yoga pose is done with hands interlaced behind your back. It is a great opener for your shoulder. You can get as much openness in your chest as possible. Make sure you join your hands behind your back. Crunch your shoulders towards your ears. With a good yoga instructor, this pose will help you improve your posture. You should let your shoulder blades slide down your back and draw your arms straight.

Slowly bend forward over your legs and keep your hands joined to stretch your hamstrings. Roll your shoulders towards the middle of your back and make sure your hands are extended overhead.

Cat cow stretch

This is excellent for helping you discover the natural curves of your spine. When you move the spine from flexion into extension, passing through the middle every time, you learn to judge the neutral position accurately. You should let the movements originate from the tailbone and ripple up your spine to ensure the head is the last thing you move.

Bridge pose

This is a gentle backbend that opens up the shoulders and chest, two areas that are often constricted in people who have poor body posture. It will strengthen your back and give your strength more support. Lift your hips and pause for a moment to tuck your shoulder blades into your back. Relax your butt and then lift your hips higher.

Eagle pose

This yoga Brookvale pose challenges your balance and strengthens your core. A strong core will support your spine and give you a good posture. Eagle arms will open the back of your heart. It does not matter if you cannot wrap your top leg around but make sure that your shoulders are stacked at the top of your hips. There is a tendency to lean your torso forward in this pose.
