Stories are now a part of our life. No wonder we read, hear, and narrate so many in our lifetime. If you are a student, then you might have a different experience when you write one for your academics, right?

Sometimes students like you face trouble in turning their utter-flop work into a super-hit. Do you also experience the same? If yes, this article includes some amazing story writing tips you wouldn’t want to miss. So, let’s hop into it!

  1. Have a clear end

The first thing to ensure is, have a clear ending for your story. Often students think they will get to an ending while writing the story, but this isn’t the right practice. And on the other side, if you have how to end the document, you can easily modify and direct your storyline towards it.

  1. Don’t be too informative

This is a story and not an informative blog. So, keep information to a limit and do not go overboard with it. You should not be too informative or give away too many details as the reader might already know that or can find it online. Just keep to your storyline.

  1. Use limited characters

Adding too many characters may sound fun, but it makes the story complex and the reading experience confusing. Limit the number of characters you include in the story and allot them with proper role and importance. Focus on developing strong characters instead of too many characters with poor characterization.

  1. Practice simple writing

It is good if you have a rich vocabulary or in-depth knowledge of any topic. But do not brag about it here and instead focus on simply writing. The primary purpose of writing a story is to convey your thoughts to the reader, make them experience the story you have in your head, and this can only be done through simple words and easy-to-understand writing.

  1. Appeal to five senses

The reader will feel connected to your story only when it's appealing to the five senses. So, yes, when you develop a story that triggers their five senses, they experience the excitement and assume they are involved in that story. This increases their interest in your story.

  1. Prefer the active voice

Active voice is preferred in story writing as it is a professional style of writing. Professors who go through your work also might have suggested you use this over passive voice. It is because passive voice is more wordy and complex as compared to active voice, which is direct and clearer.

  1. Write every day

No, this doesn’t mean you write a story every day. But yes, take some time and dedicate it to writing. Be it a page, a hundred words, or for fifteen minutes in a day; but, keep practicing writing on an everyday basis to get your hands-on practice in this.

  1. Read more

This is another obvious thing- you should read more. Be it books, magazines, or poetry, make sure to read something regularly to learn how to express yourself better, write well, connect lines, and other such important elements in a story.

These story writing tips can help you draft a narrative piece easily. However, if you need more help, do not hesitate to seek help from any online subject expert. All the best!
