In these gloomy times, where everyone is ready to pull the others apart, being kind is one of the bravest traits. Sympathy, empathy, kindness and helpfulness are lost causes in today's scenarios..so, the best way to sustain in life is self help. Self help is basically what we do to carry ourselves gracefully through life without expecting any support from others as eventually, the romance we have with ourselves is the one that will last. But, how do we care for ourselves?

  1. Let go of the preconceived notions: People will judge you for any and every decision you make..be it related to your lifestyle, related to your clothes, related to your choice of career, related to the achievements..just make sure that these judgements do not hurt you in any way. Just assume that people have nothing better to do, so they have a problem with whatever you do..just let it go. Also, make sure to not judge people yourself as it would be a waste of time and nothing else.Although it might not be easy to ignore what your loved ones say, but sometimes ignorance is bliss..ignore whatever people say against you or your choices..they won’t be affected by them, you will be.
  2. Love your body: Thin, fat, tall, short, fair, dark are all just words..they do not describe what you are and what is your worth..so be kind to yourself and love your body as it is. Also, if you feel that you need to make it better, do it in a way that makes you feel positive about it. Anyway, it is the person who you are inside that matters..the body you have is in a state of constant change. Body positivity is the need of the hour for everyone..be it a man or a woman, the relationship you have with your body is the most important and should be the most pious one.
  3. Relax: Romanticizing overworking is the biggest toxic trait a person can have..because overworking does nothing for your mind and body except tiring them off. Make sure to relax yourself in between work and finish work on time in order to spend more time with yourself and your family.You can take up activities like yoga or meditation to relax yourself on a daily basis.If you find yourself in the middle of a toxic job that over burdens you, make sure to find an alternative..because at the end of the day, you work hard to give yourself a relaxing life..which you are not giving yourself.
  4. Asking for help: If you feel that you need help to maintain your mental health, ask for it. If you feel that you need to maintain your mental balance then refer to a therapist or if you need some professional help to make things right..go ahead and seek help. Trust me, people will judge but it is for your own good..think about yourself and not others. 
  5. Remove the toxic people from your life: Sometimes, people bring unsolicited toxicity in your life by their general behaviour or judgemental thoughts..even if you love these people dearly, getting rid of them is of utmost importance as they do nothing but spread negativity in your life. Remember, positive people would always be a cheerleader for you.Make sure to surround yourself with happy, positive people and be one for others too.
  6. Putting yourself first: Do not rely for happiness on anyone..be it your parents, your spouse, your children or your siblings..at the end of the day, only you know what really makes you happy..so, go ahead and enjoy your own company as much as you can.You can start by doing absolutely nothing..or by watching television by yourself or by downloading memes(use Imgur album downloader) and laughing your heart out..do the things you like!

These traits are really important to inculcate in life as they are the ones that help you to suffer through the struggles of your life..as the love you have for yourself is the best kind of love..SELF LOVE!
