A cover letter should be short, concise, and to the point.

An ideal cover letter should not cover more than one page of information. The best way to do so is to be very specific about skills, traits, and qualities and mention what makes you unique from all the rest, ensuring you’re the perfect match for the job. Another good practice is to address your cover letter to the person who is going to review your submission.

Mentioning the recruiter’s name can have a major effect on your cover letter writing and makes it more professional. Another good factor is to research and do as much homework on the job you’re applying for. Getting as much information about the job and the company will make it easier for you to optimize your cover letter specifically according to what the company might be looking for.
