Carrot seed oil is an essential oil, which is a blend of aromatic compounds found naturally in plants. Plants use these chemicals for their own survival and health, and you can use them for medicinal purposes as well.

What Exactly Is Carrot Seed Oil?
Carrot seed oil is extracted by steam distillation from carrot seeds.

You may also notice a carrot oil infusion. This is the process of soaking carrot root in an oil such as olive oil or coconut oil for a period of time and then straining it. Carrot Seed Oil Advantages

Remove the fungus. Some types of fungus are resistant to carrot seed oil. According to research, it can inhibit the growth of fungus in plants as well as some types that grow on the skin. ‌

Defend yourself against bacteria. Some bacteria strains, such as Staphylococcus aureus, a common skin bacteria, and Listeria monocytogenes, a bacteria that causes food poisoning, can be combated by carrot seed oil.

Sunlight should be avoided. Carrot seed essential oil contains umbelliferone, also known as 7-hydroxycoumarin. This substance absorbs UVB light and is commonly found in sunscreens.

While carrot compounds are found in sunscreen, there is no evidence that carrot seed oil can be used as a sunscreen on its own. While it may block UVB light, there is no evidence that it can prevent sunburns or sun damage or protect against skin cancer. ‌

Skin tone is even. Because carrot seed oil absorbs UVB light, it may aid in the treatment of hyperpigmentation.

Carrot Seed Oil Risks
Many essential oils are irritating to the skin and can cause rashes and sensitivities. Carrot seed oil can do this, though it is only mildly irritating.

Before applying carrot seed essential oil to your skin, combine it with a fatty oil such as coconut or grapeseed oil.
