1. Vaishno Devi Temple

Vaishno Devi Shrine tops the list of most religious temples in India. The temple witnesses a huge crowd every year coming only from all around the country but also from across the globe. This holy shrine is dedicated to Mata Vaishnavi, the manifestation of Goddess Durga. Nestled at a huge elevation of almost 5200 meters above the sea temple, Vaishno Devi Temple is not very easily accessible and pilgrims need to cover a trekking distance of approx. 14 km. from the base trek at Katra. However, devotees with ill-health and physically unfit can cover the distance through pony rides or helicopter services.

2. Amarnath Cave

One of the most renowned pilgrimage destinations in India, Amarnath Cave is seated at an elevation of 12,000 above sea level. This heavenly place is devoted to Lord Shiva where Shiva worshippers pay homage at the naturally formed ice-stalagmite. According to Hindu mythology, this is the place where Lord Shiva revealed the secret of immortality to his wife Goddess Parvati. Being located at such a high altitude, devotees need to cover the trekking distance to reach the holy cave of Baba Barfani.

3. Siddhivinayak Temple, Mumbai

Constructed in the 18th century, Siddhivinayak Temple has located in the modern city of Mumbai. This holy shrine is dedicated to Lord Ganesha who is also called Lord Ganesha. There is an unflinching faith among the residents of Mumbai that if they pay homage at this holy shrine before commencing any project or any new work then they are surely going to get a complete success and so the god is called by one more name Vighnaharta. The eight inscriptions of Lord Ganesha carved out beautifully on the wooden doors of the temple are the appealing elements of this holy shrine.

4. Kedarnath Temple, Uttarakhand

The prime destination of Shiva worshippers, Kedarnath is nestled beautifully at an elevation of 3584 meters above sea level. Kedarnath Temple is counted among the most sacred and heavily visited pilgrimage in north India. The main deity of this temple is Lord Shiva to whom devotees anoint with pure ghee and then seek his blessings to attain salvation and lifelong prosperity. Reaching this high-altitude shrine is not so easy and one needs to trek a long distance which is a little arduous and challenging.

5. Badrinath Temple, Uttarakhand

Devoted to Lord Vishnu, Badrinath Temple is renowned as one of the most prime destinations for Vishnu worshippers. Seated at a huge elevation of 3133 meters above sea level, Badrinath Temple is among the four holy abodes of the Char Dham Yatra circuit. This holy abode is also enlisted among the most sacred 108 temples dedicated to Lord Vishnu which are collectively called Divya Desams. Likewise, other religious places in India Badrinath also hold myriads of legends and interesting stories.

6. Somnath Temple, Gujarat

One of the most ancient pilgrimage destinations in India, Somnath has been mentioned in many of the holy epics of Hindus. This stunning ancient temple is devoted to Lords Shiva as per interesting Hindu mythology, it was Lord Shiva who protects Son from a prolonged and incurable disease that occurred to him because of the curse given by his father-in-law. Somnath is enlisted among 12 stunning Jyotirlingas established in India. 7. Shirdi Sai Baba, Mumbai

Built-in the year 1922, Shirdi Sai Temple is dedicated to Sai Baba which has been established over the Samadhi of Sai Baba. Shirdi is a very small town in the state of Maharashtra which was known to very few people before its association with Sai Baba. According to the tourism report of the authority, the temple is visited by almost 25,000 pilgrims every day and during the festive season, the number increases drastically which reaches up to lakhs. 8. Gangotri Temple

Constructed in the honor of River Ganga, Gangotri Temple is settled in the Uttarkashi district in Uttarakhand and is the most important and highly revered pilgrimage in Char Dham Yatra. Constructed with white-marbled stones, the Gangotri temple was built in the 8th century. This holy temple of River Ganga can only be accessible in the summer and monsoon months but not in the winter months. Due to its insane location, the temple is closed during the winter months and the idol gets transferred to the lower altitude shrine.

9. Kashi Vishwanath Temple

This beautiful ancient temple in Uttar Pradesh has been visited by various great persons like Swami Vivekananda, Gurunanak, Swami Tulsidas, and the great Hindu philosopher Adi Shankaracharya.

10. Tirupati Balaji

Situated in the Tirumala district in Andhra Pradesh, Tirupati Balaji is also called Tirumala Venkateswara Temple. The main deity residing in the temple is Lord Venkateshwara who is also called Balaji, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. It is considered to be the second richest spiritual site where devotees offer gold and money of approx. millions to Lord Vishnu per day. Laddoo is the Main Prasad of this temple which a devotee offers to Lord Venkateswara as a Prasad and which is delectable in taste.
