The Best Baby Educational Books: How to Teach Your Child At Home | Sonas Kids

On account of Covid-19, children had to turn their faces towards home teaching. Parents had to become surrogate tutors.

However, let's not restrict the home-based parental teaching to the Covid-19 pandemic. There is a broad range of situations that demand children to study from home. For instance, a child is suffering from disability/autism; in that case, parents prefer their children to have education in the comfort of their home.

So, this blog (for parents) sheds light on how to make learning at home effective.

1) Assign a spacious room to your child for studying purposes. Open spaces tend to enhance the productivity and creativity of the children. Fill your kid's study space with a comfortable desk, charts, couch, whiteboard, images, and other essential items to make the learning fun and entertaining. Moreover, your kid can change positions while learning. Your kid can sit on the desk for solving math problems and use the couch for watching an educational video on a laptop. Sitting in one position makes learning dull.

2) Breaks are a necessity. When kids study continuously for long hours, their brain becomes foggy, and productivity declines. You kids must have frequent breaks to give their minds rest.

3) Choose the timing that works best for your kid. Some kids are night owls and others are morning worms. Ask your kid the timing they find interesting to study. Measure their performance in those timings. When I was 10 years old, I was a night owl. I always wanted to do something creative at night, such as drawing, creating origami, or other forms of art. Unfortunately, during that time, our family's sleeping schedule was from 8 pm-6 am. I had to sleep early. But you should change the schedule for your kid's effective learning. They say change is the rule of creation.

4) Bring consolidation in your teaching. What is a consolidation?

Consolidation is when learning where students get knowledge constantly and derive new meaning from it. It happens through reviews, tests, and quizzes. Learning is always better through discussion, writing, and art.

5) Give tough assignments to your kids and praise them after they achieve a good score. You can also bestow them some prizes, like chocolates, stationery items, etc. It will further improve their performance and motivate them to perform better. Avoid praising them too much. It will deter their ability to challenge themselves.

6) Spare some time to your kids for their passions and talents. You never know what wonders their talent can bring for them. If your kid isn't well-versed with his/her/their hidden talent, let them explore themselves. Introduce them to plenty of activities. They might find the one for them.
