As Carrick steps down what can United achieve with the rest of the season?

As most of you reading this already know I am a huge fan of United and lately its been one problem after another with my favourite team, since Ferguson left we have seen countless seasons of no structure, no desire and a rapid changing of both managers and styles of play, it often seems like Oli was making up the strategy as he went along and tried to play multiple styles without ever really sticking and honing one of them to really play to United strengths.

It seems to me that the team is slightly better with Ronaldo coming back in so much that have more attacking options and obviously he is a master of taking penalties and getting the headed goals that we need from corners, his pace may have slowed down a little which means he's not always the best player to have when it comes to tracking back and defending but if we can overcome those issues then he could fit in quite nicely and give United some options, lets not forget that he is still ranked as one of the worlds best players despite his age, he is a huge signing for United but I'm not sure how well he will do under the new style which is likely to be high pressing or counter attacking football.

I suspect Ronaldo may be on the bench far more often that he would like to be but bringing him on late in the game when we need a crucial winning goal or someone to convert a penalty would be a wise strategy, it seems these days he is the perfect man for snatching us a late goal and win, this is likely due to the fact that despite his age he never seems to run out of energy and often times defenders can get tired and sloppy when it enters the later stages of the game.

It seems to me that with so many great teams these days United can no longer just win season after season, there are so many teams now that are top class and have the potential to win the league in any given season, the likes of Manchester City, Liverpool, Everton, Tottenham, Chelsea and even West Ham could easily win this year or next season, it's a much more open game compared to what it used to be back in the 1990s which usually involved United competing against only one real rival to win the league all the time, this rarely changed under Ferguson but it was also the case that other clubs just didn't have the investment that United had who had great scouts and a youth academy to bring young players in and breed loyalty to the club.

As most of you know I'm a huge fan of many sports so I try to keep up with Football and a few others, when I'm not doing that I'm normally out fishing which helps me to relax and unwind, I normally take some snacks with me and have a look at the latest stats on whoscored.com which is a great site if you are a stats junky who loves football like me, from there I have a few hours to myself to unwind and take the new rod out, just got myself a really top quality reel from Penn, have a look if your into fishing - (https://www.northeasttackle.co.uk/sea-fishing-tackle-c5/sea-reels-c9/penn-surfblaster-reel-iii-p3935 for pictures!), I really need to start shopping for more christmas presents as it's getting late in the year and I'm almost certain there is going to be issues with transport and stock levels at pretty much all the major retailers, I may even have to look at some alternative presents if some things are out of stock, hopefully I won't miss out on the best deals but if I do then I'll just get some smaller presents and buy some really nice things in the January sales for a steep discount!
