How start in comedy if you never made

Do you want to be a stand-up comedian? Here are five strategies for advancing your comedy career through social media.

Define your target market.

Your ability to attract an audience for your comedy is crucial to your social media success. The most popular comics target a specific demographic. "Who is your target audience?" or, in other words, who your comedy appeals to the most, is one of the first things I ask my comedic clients. What gender do they consider themselves to be? Do they have a spouse or are they single? Is it better to be blue-collar or white-collar? What are their ages? What are their favorite pastimes? What are their favorite TV series, movies, and other comedians? It's best if you can be as specific as possible about who they are.

Make the best first impression.

If your profiles are amateurish, you won't be able to establish a fan base online. For your profile photo, use a high-quality headshot. Complete your bios and include keywords like "comedian" or "standup comedy" to help you show up in searches. Remember, the primary goal of your bio is to attract others to like or follow you. Examine your present bio to evaluate if it is fulfilling its purpose.

Know what your brand stands for!

Your online persona should be consistent with your offline persona. Don't distribute contentious or improper stuff if your act is clean and family-friendly.

Always keep an eye out for new material.

Every day, you probably jot down or record jokes on your phone. Apply the same principles to your social media accounts. Make it a habit to scribble down or photograph things that make you laugh. Then make tweets and posts out of them. Twitter is a great location to test out new material and see how many of your followers enjoy it. If a joke goes viral on Twitter, it may end up in your set.

Build contacts trough social media.

Social networking is a terrific way to create professional ties as well as a promotional tool for your comedy career. Make a list of persons in the industry with whom you'd like to connect. If your target demographic is millennials, for example, forming a relationship with someone who runs a successful millennial-focused blog could result in a large number of new followers and fans at your next event.

Comedy is not about finding "The hook" or any magic tricks some comedians say, is about preparation and knowing what you want to become is about understanding human nature and using it as a tool to make people laugh.
