How to Fix Email Not Working in iPhone Mail App

It can be incredibly frustrating when you can't check your email. This guide will walk you through the basic steps to ensure you'll be able to receive your mail using Mail on iOS. Also, if problems persist, this guide will help you understand the problem and get the exact help you need from your mail provider so there is no confusion.

How to fix the Mail app not working issue on iPhone?

1. Close and reopen the Mail app

If the Email Not Working on iPhone or is unresponsive on your iPhone 11 after updating iOS, try closing the app and then opening it again. There may be some minor glitches in the app that interfere with the normal operation of that app. Also, if you have left an app sleeping/running in the background during the update, the app may crash, stop responding, or become corrupted after installing the update. Fortunately, these issues can be easily fixed by closing and reopening the app.

2. Check your internet

If you can't send/receive emails through the Mail app on your iPhone, you need to check your internet connection (mobile data or Wi-Fi). Also, if the Mail app is unable to download emails from the server, you need to make sure that your iPhone is connected to the Internet. To verify, you can try to open a website. If it doesn't load or Safari says it's not connected to the internet, there's something wrong with the internet on your iPhone. If this is the case for you, the Mail app will not work on your iPhone or iPad.

3. Check your email ID and password

If you are unable to send or download an email, there could be a problem with the username and/or password for that email account. In such cases, you will get a pop-up asking you to enter your username or password again. In case that pop-up does not appear, you may need to remove that email account from your iPhone and set it up again. To do this, go to step 10.

Also, if you are unable to send an email in the Mail app on your iPhone, make sure you have entered the correct email id. You may have misspelled or entered the wrong email id and that is why you cannot send the email. This is quite normal if you are emailing a new ID. To be more sure, please double-check the entered email id.

4. Check your iPhone storage

In some rare cases, your iPhone storage is almost full and there is no space for any new emails. In such cases, you may feel that the Mail app is not working which is why you cannot receive new emails. However, in such a case, it is the storage that causes you problems. To check the storage space, go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage. It will show you the total and used storage space available on your device. Make sure you have a certain amount of free storage for optimal app performance on your iPhone.

5. Mail app not showing on iPhone?

There may be cases where the Mail app is not showing on your iPhone. In such cases, make sure to check the content restrictions on your iPhone. You may have mistakenly disabled Mail from the list of allowed apps on your iPhone. If you have, the app may be limited or completely hidden on your iPhone. This is a great way to hide apps on your iPhone or iPad, but be sure to turn off restrictions on your device when you don't need them.

This is how you do it:

1. Go to Settings > Screen Time

2. Tap Content & privacy restrictions > Allowed apps.

3. Enter the Screen Time passcode.

4. Make sure you have activated the slider for Mail.
