Tips for Silver Face Painting During the Blistering Summer

Face painting during the summer is fun. But paint, water, and heat don’t mix well. That doesn’t mean you’ll need to put a stop to your planned sessions, though. Here are some tips on how you can still pull that off successfully.

Prepare Waterproof Paint

There are different types of face paints. You’ll find face paints that are oil-based, alcohol-based, and the most common, water-based. But water-based options wash away with just a little water. That’s not good if you plan to spend a lot of time at the beach or by the pool. No worries, though. You can just switch to waterproof silver face paint. That way, the paint won’t get smudged away too easily. You can set that with powder, though, so it’ll hold up longer.

Pick Hypoallergenic Options

Do you have sensitive skin? Your skin with react with face paints and that could give you rashes, skin irritation, and more. One easy way to prevent that is to look for hypoallergenic options. When you shop around for face paints, pick brands and products that are good for sensitive skin. There’s nothing like a rash to get in the way of your festive summer mood and beach or pool parties.

Use Stencils

You don’t have to be an excellent painter to flesh out the details of the designs you want to create. Stencils offer a fast and easy way for you to create those details. If you’re doing face paint sessions on kids, though, you’ll want to use stencils, too. Most kids are fidgety. They’ll want to run around and play. That’s why you need to finish the design as soon as possible. If your niece or nephew is like the wind, then you need to be faster.

Choose Simple Designs

If it’s for a beach party, why not go with simple designs? That way, you won’t have to ask your target market to wait for too long. That’s especially ideal if you have kids lined up ready to ask you for a face painting session. If you want to get everyone on the queue done, then switch to simple designs instead of complicated ones.

Have Sponges Ready

Brushes are great for fleshing out the details of a design. But if you’re applying a layer of foundation or need to cover the entire forehead or cheeks, you’ll want to switch to a sponge. A sponge makes it easier for you to apply the paint or foundation. If you want to get those designs done right away, have plenty of sponges ready. That way, you can use a different one for each person on the queue.

Spray a Mist

Misting the skin helps create a barrier and seals the pores. Painting on top of that helps the design last longer. Still, you need to be realistic with the timeframe. The designs won’t last that long since you’ll still sweat and exposure to the heat and humidity will affect the paints. However, these steps can help the designs last a little bit longer.
