How to check RAM speed in Windows 10

You may need to know the RAM speed or operating frequency (MHz) of your computer using ccgadget. In most cases, the BIOS will display this information, but it may be interesting for many users to see this data directly from Windows.

So, this article will show you how to know the speed of connected RAM memory without accessing the BIOS. All you need is a task manager. Task Manager can reveal some interesting facts about the Windows system as well as RAM memory speed.

But before we get started, let's take a quick look at what RAM memory is, and how it works, specifically DRAM, the most common type of volatile memory used in today's computers.

What is DRAM?

Dynamic random access memory (DRAM) is a type of random access memory (RAM) in which each bit of data is stored in a separate capacitor on the chip. When a capacitor loses a charge, information is lost over time if the capacitor is not recharged on a regular basis. The DRAM reload feature is dynamic storage, unlike SRAM and other types of static storage.

The advantage of DRAM is its simple structure. Only one transistor and one capacitor per bit are required compared to the four transistors in SRAM. Therefore, DRAM achieves a very high density. Unlike flash memory, DRAM memory is volatile because data is lost when the power is turned off.

How to find out the frequency and speed of RAM

Using Windows Task Manager is a very simple procedure to view basic data of the RAM installed on your computer, such as speed and frequency.

First, go to the Windows 10 taskbar and right-click to open the context menu. Then select Task Manager. You can also use the CTRL + SHIFT + ESC keyboard shortcut.

With Task Manager already open, click the Performance section.

You can find basic information about CPU, memory, storage disk, and network performance analysis in the Performance section of the Task Manager.

How to check for RAM failure in Windows 10

If your application runs very slowly, your computer freezes, restarts automatically at random, or if the so - called "blue screen of death (BSOD)" occurs, is it a software or hardware problem? Determining what the problem is can be difficult. hardware.

However, RAM is one of the first things to check in such cases. There are many applications on the Internet for this, but Windows 10 has built-in tools that allow you to perform fast RAM diagnostics.

Diagnose Windows 10 memory problems

Be sure to save all files and close all open applications before you start testing for RAM failures, as the following steps will require you to restart your PC.

· Dark web scanner

·Open the control panel.

· Click System and Security.

· Select Administrative Tools.

· Double-click Windows Memory Diagnostics.

· Click Restart Now to check for issues (recommended).

When you restart your computer, you will see a blue screen in a dedicated environment to diagnose memory problems. Do not be worried. It is not the "blue screen of death". The exam will start automatically in the standard mode of the three available.

The differences between the three types of memory diagnostics in Windows are:

Basic: Run MATS +, INVC, and SCHCKR (cache-enabled) tests.

Standard: Includes LRAND, Stride6 (cache-enabled), CHCKR3, WMATS +, and WINVC, as well as basic testing.

Extensions: Includes MATS + (cache disabled), Stride38, WSCHCKR, WStride-6, CHCKR4, WCHCKR3, ERAND, and CHCKR8 as well as all standard tests.

You can take the test to check the memory in standard mode or press F1 to return to the options page and select another memory. However, the default value is sufficient.

Check the result

You can see the scan results in progress, but the computer will restart as soon as the scan is complete, so you should use Event Viewer to check if the RAM module is damaged.

Open Front.

Locate eventvwr.exe and press Enter to launch Event Viewer.

Expand the Windows Logs folder in the left pane.

Click System and select Search in the Actions panel on the right.
