Delhi University will be looking into a proposal that Campus of Open Learning students should be able to study job-specific courses. The proposal will be discussed at the Academic Council meeting on 22nd March.
What Payal Mago Said about the Proposal
Payal Mago, Director of Open Learning, said “This center will house a media center and will provide online and experiential learning courses to students. To enhance the employability of students at the School of Open Learning (SOL), these small group and one-on-one courses will be skills-based, geared towards what they need. For example, many are in college while running family shops as well – we can offer an on-demand business course to teach them how to make money!”

The center will begin by offering three diplomas- a journalism diploma in English as well as Hindi, a post-graduate diploma in library automation services, and a course on mushroom cultivation
There will be a mixture of online and offline classes – some classes are totally online, she said.
The journalism course will be carried out in collaboration with the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism at Delhi University’s Hansraj College while for all our other courses, experts have been identified who are experts in their respective fields.
In another related development, the Delhi University Teachers Association announced they will boycott classes on Tuesday to demand one-time regulation for the absorption of ad hoc and temporary teachers. It has stated they will stage a protest outside the AC meeting to send an important message.
