If Cbd Oil Is Illegal, How Is It Being Sold Online?

CBD. You are clearly living under the rock if you haven’t heard of this compound before. Though mentioned in our Ayurvedic texts, the CBD industry boomed in the west but now it is slowly coming to India as well. Even though our government of India recognizes the health benefits of hemp CBD, there are a set of people who are still inhibited about trying out this miraculous herb. If you are one of those people, continue to read this article. This article will help you figure out what CBD is and how to make sure the stuff you are buying is legit and won’t make you end up in jail.

First thing first, what is CBD?

CBD, for short, is cannabidiol. It is a chemical compound from the Cannabis Sativa plant that gives the feeling of relaxation and calm. There is another compound present in this plant known as THC, Delta-9 Tetrahydrocannabinol, which is the major active ingredient in marijuana. While CBD is not psychoactive and doesn’t cause an altered state of mind the same is not true for THC.

Is CBD Oil Legal?

Cannabis Sativa has been a part of the Indian Ayurvedic system of traditional medicine for centuries but with time, one of its compounds CBD has gotten a bad rap. Misguided perceptions have added to a social stigma. Due to such baseless claims, many people have been left wondering whether the consumption of cannabidiol oil India is safe to consume or not. Understand this, India is a signatory to an international treaty-Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs. Under this convention and Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance (NDPS) Act, India has banned the recreational use of cannabis and its products.

Here Cannabis means the flowering or fruiting tops of the cannabis plant also known as cannabis Sativa or marijuana. Apart from flowering tops, leaves and seeds of the plant have been excluded from the legal purview. It could be due to the plant’s medicinal uses and India’s social and religious customs. Just like Bhaang is not prohibited under any law in India, the use of cannabidiol oil India is also not prohibited.

Are all CBD products legal to take?

The licensed sale of Cannabinoids, including CBD Products is permitted in India under the NDPS Act. So, when choosing CBD oil from any manufacturer ensure the company has the license to sell such products. Our government of India has allowed 0.3% THC in the CBD product to be considered legal provided the customer is buying it for medicinal purposes. The Ministry of Ayush has given the license to only a handful of players who can increase the legal dosage of THC that is 0.3% above provided the customers take proper consultation for it.

Just ensure one thing:

The primary issue with many products being sold online is that they don’t mention the exact content description of THC and thus, there is no other way of finding out whether the particular product carries higher than 0.3 percent of THC or lower. This is where a license tag will help you choose a better product for yourself.
