Batten disease, like all other NCLs, is an inherited condition that primarily affects brain function. Many NCLs impair the ability of the body's cells, particularly brain cells, to dispose of waste products. Batten Disease symptoms occur when cells cannot function properly due to waste product build-up and begin to die.

This is a common side effect of Batten's Disease Treatment. This can be caused by the use of certain medications that are used to treat this condition. In addition, some people experience headaches due to the high fever that occurs after the first dose of medication. Nausea is another common side effect of Batten's disease treatment. Some patients may feel nauseous from the high fever that occurs right after the initial dose of medication. Vomiting is a common side effect that many patients experience while taking their medication. Some people have reported vomiting after taking their medication.
