How to Write a Resume

Are you thinking about changing jobs and wondering how best to start? Some acquaintances may have advised you to create a profile on a professional social network because a classic resume is dead. If you recall a styling exercise with the word CV, it is really "dead". You can find the solution in a clear CV, which you can also give online.

Less is really more

It is clear that when you write about your professional life, there is a lot of information that you would like to share about yourself and your qualities. Remember that the CV will be read by HR professionals, who unfortunately do not have two hours to read each CV.

It's good to have a resume on one, or two pages and a font that you don't need when reading the magnifying glass. On the other hand: don't skimp on information. It will not please you even if you tell him the company in which you worked, but you do not state what you specifically did.

Write your experience in bullets

Write the information you want to communicate clearly - ideally in bullets. The HR specialist will be able to orientate himself in your experience so quickly. A maximum of 5 indents should be sufficient for each job.

If you are a recent graduate, be sure to mention your studies right at the beginning of your resume. If practice prevails, it is good to mention the study at the end of the CV, but only the highest achieved. The fact that you graduated from primary school in your home village 15 years ago does not interest HR very much.

Truthfulness: that's the basis

While you may be tempted to beautify your resume a bit, you better stick to the truth. The Czech Basin is a small pond and you never know where the truth can look out at you. And if HR finds out, the negotiations with you will end very quickly.

Spelling

Before you send the finished CV, let it be read to someone you know has a feeling for Czech (English, German…). This will give you feedback not only on the grammar but also on the logical arrangement of the CV. You may find that it is worth adding, adding, or developing some information.

What does the structure of a resume look like?

Personal data

  • These are mainly name, surname, title, telephone, and e-mail.
  • In the Czech Republic, it is customary to assign a contact address, and nationality, but this information is optional.
  • photograph Approximately half of the applicants attach an If you don't have a professional photo, you'd better skip the wedding or beer picture.
  • Nobody cares about information about their health, the number of children, and religion. Therefore, do not write them in the CV.

Work experience

  • This part of the CV is the most important for HR professionals, and therefore it is necessary to pay attention to it.
  • Sort the individual experiences chronologically (from the newest to the oldest).
  • Always write the month and year of the beginning and end of the employment relationship, and the name of the employer.
  • Also, list your position and some of the most important job activities you have held in the position.
  • The more specific information you provide, the better for you.

Education

  • If you are a student or a recent graduate, this information is gaining weight, so include it in your CV immediately after your personal data.
  • The highest educational attainment is indicated. In the case of students, current studies.
  • It is important to mention the name of the school, the field of study, the degree obtained, and the year of graduation (for students, the expected year of graduation).
  • The current trend is further education (during work or study). So list the relevant courses you have taken (eg language, accounting…)

Additional skills and knowledge

  • Write additional information that the future employer should know about you in the final part of the CV.
  • You can mention personal characteristics you have a driver's license, language, or computer skills. Always try to adapt this information to what your employer needs.
  • If most people in the republic have the given knowledge, and skill, then feel free to omit this information. For computer knowledge, it can be, for example, knowledge of the Internet, Word, or Excel (if you know the program only normally as a user).
