A Basic Understanding of the Gospel

We gain knowledge about men who worked closely with Jesus and wrote a large portion of the New Testament through the Bible. They are known as Jesus' disciples. Their insight of Christ the Messiah and close relationship with Him make their contribution to the Bible tremendously helpful.

The New Testament is what Christians nowadays refer to, particularly in their daily lives. The disciples' scriptures contain numerous guidance on how Believers should behave and make their own decisions.

There is no indication of them wearing handmade wooden crosses to symbolize their faith or as gratitude for Christ as we learn about their lives. As Believers, the disciples are the first and greatest example of a joyful, fulfilling though challenging life.

Modern Christians who are determined to live a Christ-like life strictly adhere to the Bible's guidance. Wearing a cross would have never occurred to them, and if it had, it would have been a firm no.

Why the Preaching of the word is important

Preaching can be misleading. For many of us who attend religious services on Saturdays and Sundays, it can all seem so ordinary. It's easy to get carried away by the preacher's personality and the regularity of the practice, and to overlook the amazing things God is capable of accomplishing through such an otherwise uninspiring act. He uses words to shape the future.

However as normal the preaching in the church is to us, it is an absolutely unique half-hour for outsiders engrossed in the world. We have read the scriptures of Jesus spreading the gospel, this is more reason we must not relent in evangelism.

Preaching is that holy half hour for every week when the congregation of the saved shuts her collective mouth, opens her ear and heart, and pays attention to the undisrupted voice of her Husband, through his ordained mouthpiece, however deeply flawed the messenger.

This weekend, find out you can rise beyond your familiarity with your normal preacher and be prepared for some incredible things as the preacher walks to the pulpit and faithfully preaches the word.

The Preached Word Has Power

When we place ourselves under the preaching of Divine revelation, it is one of the few times in today's world when we button the lip and resist the urge to speak immediately, and direct our focus and energy to hearing with faith.

There is something happening in Christian sermons in the area of corporate worship, this isn't the same as your personal Bible reading and study.

Private devotions cannot take the place of corporate worship. The consecrated power of the preached word is unparalleled in the Christian life. It is the point in time when we hear Jesus' own voice applied to our local assembled body through the faithful preaching of a human voice.

As you navigate your way to corporate worship this Saturday or Sunday, decide if it's worth the hassle, here are five precise graces of listening to the preached Word of God.

Faithful preaching will reveal your sin and call you to repentance. Faithful preaching exposes your sin and challenges you to change, which builds your faith.
