How can I add money to my Venmo card instantly?

How to add money to Venmo

Some Venmo Debit Cardholders may have the ability to instantly add funds to their Venmo balance. You can add money to your Venmo balance in the app by tapping on “Manage Balance” at the top of your personal transactions feed (in the "Me" tab).

If you tap “Instant” you’ll see the money added to your Venmo account right away. Please know that it will take a few days for the charge to reflect on your bank statement (typically 3-5 business days).

This feature has a limit of $500 per week. Learn more about personal profile bank transfer limits on Venmo.

One of the great things about Venmo is, as long as your Venmo account is tied to your bank account, you never have to worry about adding money or if you’ll have enough. You can have a balance of zero in your Venmo account and still make a payment. If you enter a payment amount that’s greater than what you have in your Venmo account, Venmo automatically takes the difference from your linked funding source.(If you don’t have the funds in your bank account, well, that’s another story.)

Only Venmo users with the Venmo Mastercard Debit Card have the option to add money from a verified bank account directly to their Venmo balance(opens in new tab). Just follow the below steps.

So if you have a Venmo Mastercard Debit Card and want to add money to your Venmo balance, simply follow the steps below:

How to add money to your Venmo account

·        Add a bank account. If you haven’t already, add a bank account(opens in new tab) to your Venmo profile and verify it.(opens in new tab)

·        Tap Manage Balance. Open the Venmo mobile app and tap on the menu icon at the top of the app, then tap “Manage Balance.”

·        Tap “Add Money," then enter transfer amount. Enter the amount you’d like to transfer, and tap “Done”

·        Confirm the bank account you’d like to transfer money from, and tap “Next.”

·        Review the transfer information and estimated arrival date, and then tap “Add Money.”

Note: Once you do this, there is no way to cancel your transfer.

Can I add money instantly to my Venmo account with a debit card?

At this time, Venmo users can only do this type of transfer directly from a bank account.

Why aren’t the funds pulled from my bank instantly?

We want to make sure you have the option to get add money in your Venmo account right away for those urgent situations when you need it – like when you’re next in line at checkout and realize the money in your Venmo account won’t cover the transaction. Due to the way these transfers process, the charge won’t reflect on your bank statement right away. It’ll usually take 3-5 business days for that debit to process.

Can I cancel or change my Instant Add Money transfer after I’ve initiated it?

We aren’t able to change or cancel these transfers once they’ve been initiated.

I’ve been able to use Instant Add Money in the past, but it isn’t available right now. Why not?

We may not be able to offer the ability to use Instant Add Money from time to time. This can be due to security concerns or other factors. It’s also worth noting that this feature is only ever available to Venmo users with an active Venmo Debit Card. If you aren’t able to use Instant Add Money, you can consider Standard Add Money or enabling reloads, if available.
