Process Counselling Sessions - Hoffman Process

Process counselling is one of the most effective and transformative ways to heal from trauma. It is a healing approach that facilitates deep, personal healing by building relational awareness, guiding growth and transformation, integrating knowledge into action and restoring balance to quality of life. Process counselling sessions can be done in person or in a written format such as email correspondence. As always ensure you are fully informed about the process before signing up for any session or before having a session with someone else!

In addition to the many therapeutic benefits of counselling, this method is also known as a 'process-counselling' session. It helps you work through the process of change by focusing on the steps towards a goal rather than on your thoughts and emotions. The session begins with identifying what you would like to change or improve about your life, then helps you work through each step of that process in a cognitive and structured way. The process of change is the key focus of a 'process-counselling' session. It is far more effective than a 'therapeutic' counselling session which focuses on healing and getting rid of your 'problem'. The difference is like the difference between a plumber repairing your water supply and a doctor prescribing medicine to cure an illness.

Process counselling sessions can be a valuable part of the therapeutic experience. Sessions are first and foremost to help you learn skills to help yourself, but they're also an opportunity for you and your therapist to gain insight into your thoughts and feelings so that you'll be able to work through things wholly on your own when the time comes. It's just as important for therapists as it is for clients!
