Features of Google Cloud Platform

Usage-based fees apply to cloud computing services. Customers merely pay for the services they use on a monthly basis and do not own any infrastructure, similar to the utility, rental car, or hotel businesses (electricity, cars, or rooms). The resources of cloud computing are on demand, just like the examples given before.

What is the Google Cloud Platform (GCP)?

The Google Cloud Platform is a collection of Google's computing, networking, storage, big data, machine learning, and management services that are underpinned by the same internal cloud architecture as Google's consumer products including Google Search, Gmail, Photos, and YouTube.

You can see our GCP Training professional go through all the technical details in this Google Cloud Provider video lecture.

Why Google Cloud Platform?

Let's look at some of the advantages now that you have a basic understanding of cloud computing and the Google Cloud Platform. With the same core architecture as Google's consumer products like Google Search, Gmail, Google Photos, and YouTube, the Google Cloud Platform is a group of cloud computing services. The enormity of the Google Search, YouTube, and Gmail databases is something we are all familiar with.

When to Use Google Cloud Platform:

  • Cloud-native Web or mobile application developers are drawn to the Google Cloud Platform, particularly the App Engine PaaS.

  • Because it is committed to performance, innovation, openness, and reasonable rates when start-ups need to scale quickly, the cloud computing service is well-liked.

  • When it is difficult to predict and compare public cloud prices, Google is a great alternative for cost-conscious businesses of all sizes, and definitely for hybrid IT customers.

  • Google is quite proficient in machine learning, artificial intelligence, and big data analytics.

  • Its cloud offerings draw on the knowledge it has gained by creating some of the most well-known open-source projects in this industry.

  • These big data capabilities are enhanced by Google's cost-effective cloud storage, making this cloud platform practical for storing enormous volumes of data.

  • In the competitive container technology market, Google is striving to differentiate itself.

  • When looking for cloud-based container tools, consider Kubernetes, an open-source container management system designed by Google that is integrated into their cloud and provides excellent support for Docker.

Features of Google Cloud Platform:

1. Price

Google's pricing structure was recently modified to include per-minute payments and discounts for long-term usage. After a 10-minute minimum, billing is done on a minute-by-minute basis.

2.Hosting

Computes Engine, which offers infrastructure-as-a-service, and App Engine, which offers platform-as-a-service, are the two hosting alternatives offered by the Cloud Platform.

3.Containers

Containers are especially useful in a PaaS context since they aid in expediting app deployment and scaling.

4.Big Data

In addition to offering a complete large data solution, the Google Cloud Platform also features two unique tools for processing and analysing big data. First, BigQuery allows for SQL-like queries on terabytes of data. You can also easily bulk load data from Google Cloud Storage. The second tool is Google Cloud Dataflow. You can create, manage, and receive insights from a data processing pipeline using Google Cloud Dataflow, which was also presented at I/O.

5.Andromeda

All Google Cloud Platform networking tools and services are built on top of the Google Andromeda network virtualization stack.

6.Load Balancing

Google released the Cloud Platform HTTP Load Balancing in June in order to balance the traffic of several compute instances across various geographic locations.

7.Cloud Debugger

Developers have the option to examine and troubleshoot live code using the Cloud Debugger. When a server request reaches a line of code that developers have set up as a watchpoint, they will have access to all of its variables and parameters.

8.Cloud Trace

Performance bottlenecks are straightforward to locate and fix with Cloud Trace. The main benefit of this update is that it shows how long your product takes to reply to various queries.

9. Maintainance

Google regularly sends out updates and conducts routine testing, but it also sets up all virtual machines to live migrate away from maintenance as it is being done. Compute Engine immediately migrates your active instance.

10.Cloud Save

At the 2014 Google I/O developers conference, Greg DeMichillie, the director of product management for the Google Cloud Platform, unveiled the Cloud Save API. Use the "Cloud Save" function to "save and retrieve per-user information." It also makes it possible to sync devices with cloud-stored data.

Conclusion

Google provides several cloud services in addition to the Cloud Platform. A bundle of productivity and collaborative tools called G Suite was in rivalry with Microsoft Office 365. Firebase is a platform for building both web and mobile applications. However, Google has greatly increased its focus on Anthos-based hybrid and multi-cloud workloads, allowing users to manage workloads on both Google Compute Engine and Google Kubernetes Engine. The majority of Google Cloud Platform is a public cloud service.
