Ganesh Himal Ruby valley

The Ganesh Himal Ruby valley offers its residents a variety of cultural experiences, as well as the beauty of the Himalayas in the Ganesh Himal region.  You will be able to learn about and experience the typical Tamang and Gurung culture on this trek.

The journey to Ruby Valley begins with a private four-wheel drive or a bus ride from Kathmandu, which takes approximately 8 to 9 hours to reach Syabrubenshi. The town of Syabrubenshi is the gateway to the Langtang valley. The town is located at the confluence of the Bhotekoshi River and the Langtang Khola. On the second day, we follow a dirt track to Bahun Danda to the west and walk down to Gatlang, a typical Tamang settlement. Through beautiful pine and rhododendron forests, the trail ascends to Yuri Kharka, from where we take lunch and descend to the Somdang River.

From Pangsang Kharka, it is possible to view Somdang Village. Camping is most suitable in the meadow. To the north, we can see Manaslu and Ganesh Himal. Herbal plants are abundant in this area. We descend to Tipling, a large village with two Buddhist Gumbas and a church. A cultural show is performed by the Tamang people of Tipling. It is quite common for them to perform Jhankri or Shaman dance, Ghode or Horse dance, Mane dance, Mendo Maya, Paro dance, and Lama dance.

We descend from Tipling on the fifth day and ascend to Shertung and Chalish villages on the sixth day. The village of Shertung belongs to the Tamang ethnic group. Shertung means 'a place of gold' in Tamang. Chalish is mainly inhabited by Gurungs, Ghales, and Kamis. People who from sing la pass then also come to join in these villages. There are many festivals celebrated by the people, including the Ghatu dance, the Dohori dance, the Maruni dance, the Hari Nelo dance, and the Deusi Bhailo dance. Among the main holy attractions of Sertung village are the Chyamra Danda, the Fyanchyat monastery, and Sajyat. It takes approximately 30 minutes to walk from Sertung to Chalish Village. In order to reach Tatopani (Hot Spring), we walk one and a half hours with a packet of lunch and then return to Chalish.

We trek to Mani Danda after breakfast. The trek continues through Deul Danda, Gobre Village, Chhap Danda, and Bandare Bhir. We have arrived at the village of Borang. After lunch, we continue our trek to Ukhum. The next day, we trek to Lisne Jungle, cross a suspension bridge, pass Chhapchyat village, and finally arrive at Jharlang village. In the morning, after breakfast, we trek down to Jharlang Phedi, passing through suspension bridges with fantastic views of Ankhu Khola, Chyamchyat, and Ri villages, before reaching Darkha village. Lastly, we trek down to Darkha Phedi, which takes approximately 45 minutes. Darkha Phedi to Dhading Benshi is reached by a local jeep, which takes three to four hours on rough roads. Our next stop is Kathmandu, which is a scenic drive through the banks of the Trisuli River that takes 3-4 hours.

In central Nepal, northwest of Kathmandu, Ganesh Himal is not frequently visited by tourists though near both KaIt has remained a well-kept secret to all but Nepal's most avid trekkers, even though the Ganesh Himal Region is located near both Kathmandu and Pokhara concealed between the popular destinations of Langtang National Park and the Manaslu Conservation Area Project.

Wildflowers bloom, waterfalls enchant the lush hillside scenery in a land rich in geographical, cultural, and biological diversity. From sensational viewpoints, the sublime Himalayas can be seen to the north. In honor of Hindu deity Ganesh, son of Shiva and Parvati, the Ganesh massif is named. There are some excellent viewpoints in the Ganesh Himal area that provide magnificent views of the surrounding peaks and valleys. In addition to the magnificent Ganga Jamuna -- twin waterfalls -- Kalo, Seto, and Ganesh Kunda, hot springs, and Tripurasundari temple, the region is most impressive for its hospitable people.

It is located in the districts of Dhading, Gorkha, Rasuwa, and Nuwakot. Visitor guides and all necessary equipment can be provided by government-registered trekking agencies. On the southern fringes of Kathmandu and Pokhara, the Prithvi Highway and Pasang Lhamu Highway provide easy access to the area. It is also possible to hike in from the Tamang Heritage Trail of Rasuwa and follow the Ruby Trek, named for the precious stones found in the area, as well as Bhalche in Nuwakot, Gorkha and Dhading Besi. Ganesh Himal is named in honour of the elephant-headed God of Good Fortune. From the Kathmandu Valley, one can clearly see the Ganesh Himal. As the "Great Himalayan Chain" forms the skyline, the Ganesh Range Peaks (Ganesh I, Ganesh II, Ganesh III, Ganesh IV) stand out like crystals. In the lower section of this great Himalayan massif, the Budhi Gandaki valley is separated from the Bhote Koshi valley by Trishuli Khola.
