The film's executive producer handles its finances. They might bring in investors such as a studio or independent finance company or invest their capital. They ensure that the product has the funds it needs throughout its life. They act as the liaison between the film's financiers and the project's Producers.
Executive Producers can also provide funding. They will be responsible for locating intellectual property (IP) and packaging the product with the correct format and talent. To find a buyer, the team will present the project to studios.
The Executive Producers are responsible for selecting the best talent, including directors and actors, and hiring producers. They ensure the project is within budget and fulfills its creative promises.
There are many types and varieties of producers:
- Associate Producers (Coproducers)
- Line Producers, also known as Lead Producers
- Creative Producers and Executive Producers [EPs]
Each one is given a distinct classification based on their contributions or responsibilities to a particular project.
The producer is the title that the producer holds and manages most of the production. Producers raise funds, manage financial closing, cast, oversee the budget and schedule, and are the main point of contact for all presentations. Projects usually reserve 1 to 2 Producer credits to protect Producer credits. Any of the other sub-producers-Associate Producers, Executive Producers-these, are effectively limitless. Still, the more shared credits you add to any project, the more you dilute their perceived value.
You can earn the Executive Producer credit by contributing significantly to the project's success through investment or service.
Sometimes individuals can be given credit for multiple roles in a production. All positions are possible: writing and directing, acting, producing, and running/producing. These roles allow people to be paid for multiple levels.
