SAN ANGELO, TX (KTRK) — Due to the persistent impact of the COVID-19 epidemic, Air Race 1 and its key partners have stated that the inaugural air race in San Angelo, scheduled for October 30-31, has been postponed until 2022.Who decided after negotiations with the San Angelo Lions Club, the San Angelo Convention & Visitors Bureau, and the City of San Angelo about the event's sustainability at Mathis Field, San Angelo Regional Airport, according to race organisers.
"Over the past 18 months, the exceptional circumstances produced by the global pandemic have presented persistent problems and logistical ramifications, not least with travel restrictions, causing a considerable interruption to the pre-event timeframe."
According to a news release from Air Race 1,Many of the competitors are from Europe, and persistent travel restrictions would have likely decreased the number of racers for the inaugural event.In due course, a new date for Air Race 1 in San Angelo will be announced, and ticket holders will be automatically entered into the rescheduled event.
