Amazon Web Services vs. Google Cloud Platform

The demand for a public cloud solution is rapidly increasing. Amazon cloud services and Google cloud platform are both important; here is a brief comparison of the two services.

 

Amazon Web Services is a component of Amazon Cloud Computing that provides cloud computing platforms to consumers, businesses, and governments on a subscription basis.

 

Similarly, Google offers a suite of cloud computing services that operate on the same infrastructure as Google's end-user products, such as the Google search engine and YouTube.

 

Amazon web services can be used to construct and deploy any cloud-based application. It offers services over the internet. It was first released in 2006.

 

Google Cloud Platform is a cloud computing service that provides application development and integration services to its customers. It was first introduced in 2008.


Establishment of Google Cloud Platform and Amazon Web Services

AWS was founded in 2006, therefore it has more expertise in the cloud sector than Google or other cloud computing providers, owing to the fact that it was founded on Amazon's real-world experience and business demands. It successfully serves the on-demand cloud computing platform needs of enterprises.

 

Google Cloud, which was introduced in 2008, is without a doubt the third opponent after Azure and is quite a stable and inexpensive cloud computing platform for business.


What is the difference between Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud?

When contrasting AWS with Google cloud, some key aspects need to be considered, such as:

Services

AWS services include Amazon web services EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, VPC, Cloud watch, Cloud 9, IOT core, and more. Similarly, Google Cloud includes cloud engines, cloud data stores, cloud storage, cloud IAM, cloud DNS, cloud SDK, Cloud IoT, and other services. Google cloud services are less in number than AWS cloud services.

 

Both Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud may integrate with a variety of open source tools, including Docker, Ansible, GitHub, Jenkins, Tensor Flows, and others.

 

Virtual Servers – AWS EC2

It is a web service that assists in resizing and computing capacity in order to run software applications on virtual machines.

GCP VM Instances - Virtual Servers

Google Cloud Platform allows customers to create, deploy, and manage virtual machines (VMs) that run cloud workloads.


AWS EC2 Pricing

Amazon Web Services offers a free tier in the EC2 service for the first 12 months (up to 750 hours per month).


Google Cloud Platform (GCP) VM Instances Pricing

It provides a free tier that includes one micro instance every month for up to a year.


AWS Elastic Beanstalk - PaaS

It is a Platform as a Service (PaaS). It is an orchestrate service that manages capacity provisioning, load balancing, auto-scaling, and application health monitoring.


PaaS: Google App Engine

Developers can create and host applications in Google's data centres using the technology known as Google App Engine.


VPS - Light Sail from Amazon

It is beneficial for a web application that only needs a few configurations.


VPS - Google Cloud Platform (GCP)

There is no VPS service offered by Google Cloud Platform.


AWS Lambda: Server less Computing

It is a compute service without servers. It enables the execution of back end programming and automatically scales data files as necessary.


Server less Computing - GCP Cloud Function

It is fault-tolerant and highly available, and it is the simpler approach to running programs in the cloud.


Disaster Recovery - Amazon Web Services Disaster Recovery Services

It is a cloud-based data recovery solution that helps in the final data recovery with the least amount of downtime.


Disaster Recovery - GCP

There is no disaster recovery solution offered by Google Cloud Platform.


Downtime and Speed

AWS's maximum downtime period in 2015 was two hours and thirty minutes, compared to an infrastructure that is developing. Downtime and speed are other factors. In 2015, Google experienced a significant outage that lasted 11 hours and 34 minutes. Because of this, AWS is the more reliable option when comparing the two.

 

AWS's pricing structure is simpler than that of Google Cloud Platform. Comparing GCP to Amazon web services, downloading data is more expensive.

 

AWS offers services that are suitable for businesses and is less expensive than GCP. Additionally, it excels at speed and agility and provides safe and trustworthy services, all of which have drawn more business to use AWS services to expand their operations.
